Congratulations on finishing your master level. For your concern about designing garments with grading, look at sewing patterns for multiple sizes and grade your garment accordingly. I'm a tailor, and of course we had to learn the basics and some more of designing and grading garments. It's really not difficult if you find some website about garment sizes. Knits and wovens differ in stretch and ease, but the sizing just needs to consider that.

Greetings, I am not really fond of the garter tab cast on but have come to realize it definitely has an important function. I really like the construction of crescent shaped shawls so I figured I had better find a way to get along with this process.( repeat practicing did not seem to be enough) What I am using is a cast on of three stitches but not knitting just six or nine rows but eighteen rows. So you end up picking up nine stitches along the long edge (one from each garter ridge) and then the three stitches from the cast on edge. I do like the look of this. And it seems to be working well to accomplish what I was looking for. I do understand that this may not work for everybody or every shawl pattern though. Congratulations on the finished assembly of your Master Knitters course being boxed up and ready to mail off!

So you're working a longer tab? That sounds like a great idea - getting more stitches more quickly so the fabric will be more even. Good idea!

You might want to check out the podcast-it’s all in a nutshell, Esther is a crocheter, who uses a lot of scheepjes yarn(which is often acrylic). She wet blocks before seaming. I thought this might help.

Thank you for the book recommendations. I think steam blocking an acrylic swatch is a good solution for your first go.

Congratulations on being on the homestretch for your Level 3. I am so proud of your accomplishments. I also saw your design in Cast On Magazine and was so proud of your accomplishments again. I am at the beginning of Level 2 and know how much work goes into these levels. But with much research, swatching, writing and other assignments, one learns so much. The person who asked about the Basics Basics Basics course would be well served to take it especially since it’s Arenda (who walks on knitted waters) Holliday. Along the same line of thinking, I would think that TKGA’s design course would serve you well. I see the monies spent on quality education as an investment. And, in my opinion, TKGA is like an Ivy League College for knitters who want to learn. Lastly, if you can, take some time off for yourself and your family. Thank you for all your hard work in producing these instructive and entertaining videos. The KZbin knitting community is fortunate to have you making them. :)

Thank you, Catherine! It's definitely a lot of work - you understand since you're working on Level 2 - but certainly worth the effort! I am seriously considering the design course but taking a bit of a breather before I decide.
