Just picked up a feral cat with 3 5-week-old kittens from our local shelter today to foster. My foster teen (human!) is super excited to help with the kittens. Thankfully none of my cats are immunocompromised, but I do have two 12-year-old cats who are getting a bit up there in age. I have been fostering kittens for over two years now and I have learned a ton from your videos. Thank you!

I fostered pregnant cats when I was doing chemo. They just needed lots of fresh food and water and my adult kids took care of the litter box. I was able to stay involved with rescue, and I got to love on mommas and babies. It was AWESOME!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤

I recently started college, and we have a mandatory 2 years in the dorms. This has been immensely hard on me, as without my constant foster animals, I feel so useless. I'm glad to hear someone else voice how it feels to take a break after fostering for so long.

Wow...2 years, that is a ridiculously long time to be forced to share a room with somebody. It's a very weird system to a European person. But don't feel bad about not fostering - you gotta do what you gotta do! And I mean you can find other ways to help, like talking care of community animals or volunteering at a shelter.

We have three resident family cats and love to foster. I love fostering hissy little spuds and watch them flower into lovable sweeties. Seeing them going to their forever homes always tears me up but makes me so happy at the same time. BTW, our foster rooms are separate from the house. I always quarantine every little batch of babies throughout their stay. Our kitties often don’t know they’re here. At least I don’t they know.😅BTW, all our fosters are vet checked first but we rarely receive neonatal babies.

I had to take a kitten season off after I had my human baby, but I fostered bunnies during that time instead. There’s a great need for bunny foster homes, and while they do need a fairly big time commitment, it’s not on the same level as baby kittens!😊

I don't think she's fostered bunnies yet, but I'd love to see that. She's already fostered kittens, puppies, piglets, ducklings, and a baby goat, she'd be great with bunnies, too!

I've had to refuse to help for the last year and a half because of one of my cats that has been presenting a bunch of different symptoms and we haven't been able to figure out a diagnosis. Also, I had a bout of FIP, so I've had to take a break from fostering for my mental health. It has been incredibly hard dealing with this and I can't take on more responsibility anymore. I'm so glad you made this video because I needed the reminder that I'm doing the right thing for both of us. My setup doesn't allow for isolation and having 20 adults under my care already, it's the best right now, and it's ok to take a break for my cat's sake and my own.

Wear a respirator as part of your PPE around non quarantine kitten, and have air purifiers with a HEPA or MER 13 filter, running both in the room where the kittens are and where you immunocompromised cat lives airborne (not droplets] transmission is the most common way infections spread

Coco is an important lady too, the risks and cons farrrr outweigh the pros if you were to try to just keep up your normal routine right now. She needs her mama and her peace more than anything and I'm sure if she knew the difference, she'd very much appreciate this option over any other LOL. All the best with the radiation treatment, I hope it goes well and Coco gets to enjoy another many wonderful years with you Kitten Lady.

They have a room but should I put em in a soft big cage play pen? They are about 7 weeks old. They will be fixed and vaccinated in 12 weeks and adopt it out. I will be keeping the mom and 1 kitten . Also the mom for a stray is very picky with food wants so many different kinds . I’m like changing wet foods all the x she wants something new . I took in a litter of 5 kittens and one single kitten a few years ago. On top of my cats which were healthy and then suddenly all the 5 kittens took a turn for the worst. Took them to the vet and they were all very contagious. I ended up taking all my cats and the single kitten to the vet as well that week and lost all 5 kittens, the single kitten and two of my baby boys who were 2 and 5. After that I never introduce the kittens until they have a clean bill of health. I thought because my boys were vaccinated, they were safe. 😢 So I understand you wanting to be safe and cautious. I know this is off topic…. But could you share a link to the bottle nipples you use for the bottle babies. I am able to make do with what I could get at the store but in the past it has been difficult feeding the kittens. Zara the one I’m caring for now (her mama abandoned her) is eating from a dish but still likes the bottle at least once daily. Thank you.

So… can you do a video explaining what’s going on with Coco? I know you’d said she kicked cancer’s butt after her radiation. Is the chemo a post radiation treatment to make sure the cancer doesn’t come back? Did the cancer actually not get kicked by radiation and she still needs treatment? I know so little about cats with cancer, so it would be great to know Coco’s journey and how you and she are managing the disease and the everyday routine. ❤️❤️

Hannah has several videos about Coco’s cancer journey, but chemo and radiation are not the same in cats as they are in humans- they’re much more mild with less side effects. And it’s entirely ethical because it has already given them two more great years of life with her.
