Once I get the basic geography of the map the next big hurdle is how to move through it. Especially in relation to other players, that's really valuable information I can't seem to find.

Great tips already helpful. Don’t know if you have the answer to this question but how am I hitting a guy 15-18 times in the chest and not killing him? The game says 800 damage delt and about 170ish of it was blocked by armor this was between two guys but I know it was about that many sense I happened to hit the other guy in the head after a couple of body shots.

This game is so hard, i feel like if i run ill be heard and gunned down, and if i stand still ill get one tapped from some level 40 chad with a highly modded sniper. I cant remember the last time i escaped a pmc raid. I escape as a scav pretty commonly, but unless im with friends, rarely as a pmc

exactly the same here! i feel like if i move and run, people will hear me, so end up creeping about then eventually just get shot. I've tried moving fast and keep moving, but the result is always the same - me getting one tapped! I've tried positioning after firing - result = me dead... I keep trying but always end up dead as a PMC. I have had the odd 'lucky' escape but thats about it. My money is almost all gone, and i have lost almost everything in my stash.

Some of my friends have KAPPA and have a case larger then my EOD case and on top of that having a larger case isn't guaranteed a win and only helps you so much in game. Gun skill and map knowledge determine success in Tarkov.

I'm glad I started watching you right before I bought Tarkov ! You have literally made my mindset what it is today ! Last raid I had I found a gold chain and got into and intense fight and reposition to a pretty well spot shot the kid but he didn't die , I then went behind hard cover and got the peak advantage on them. They stopped pushing right when my ammo ran out so I left the fight and reloaded and never seen them again 😂 dude I love this game bc of you ! Thank you for everything !

Been having trouble with woods lately. Almost never see other pmc sniping me and I have tried time and time again to move tactically throughout the map. Using light armor, all green, dropping backpack in a bush to reduce silhouette. Sometimes players just see me no matter where I am hiding lol. It doesn't help that the spawns are all withing a LOS wedge making it hard to move inland without left and right pmc gaining sight of you.

The one unrealistic thing in the game is how slow you go to ground from a running position. I have only done mock fighting in the military with laser vests but you dive pretty quick when you see a threat and if it hurts then it hurts.

My best advice for that is instead of thinking reactively and waiting to see someone to make a move, just assume there’s going to be someone almost everywhere so that when there is you’re in a position to be able to do something other than die

I didn't come from a FPS background (I have casually played stuff like CSGO, but never purposely tried to get super good at it), so I tend to lose a lot just off of aim. I'm not super bad at aiming, it's just I never have good consistency and recoil control. So playing EFT has been a fun challenge for me, just sometimes wish I had better aim lol

In the Keep Moving topic: if you watch Shroud and other good PVP players, they are always moving back and forth - their basic assumption is that someone somewhere is crouched in a bush or on a rooftop trying to get their head into the crosshairs - and they bunny-hop across open ground. By constantly dancing side to side and back and forth, they always keep their head moving which obviously makes a sniper shot much harder and the bunny hopping is an obvious PUBG/CSGO tactic. This should change dramatically when here are Under-Barrel Grenade Launchers and the new weight & movement system they are planning to release. Exposing yourself and using unrealistic "FPS Dance" and "Bunny Hop" techniques should be penalized in a game like EFT. Energy should drain much faster when doing those kinds of things as well. So movement for now also means keep your head from being on a predictable trajectory, but in the future hopefully it will just mean, "move realistically like a proper spec ops soldier would."

p.s. Prone Lean will also presumably mean that you can half side roll and elevate your gun which you currently cannot do, which makes it extremely hard to go prone on a slope and use actual prone movement tactics such as the half roll/lean.

Depends on what you can afford. Generally the highest class armor is better. But I’ve seen people wreck squads with no armor. Map knowledge and good positioning can go a long way. I did a video on armor if you have more questions about it 👍🏼

Not an expert, but I know that doors would be soft cover since they can be shot through. Logically, sheet metal and small trees are soft cover, but I don't know for sure. Bushes and whatnot are good visual cover

The best tip I can give is start using budget AK builds.. polymer handgrip, rubber buttstock pad, muzzle device etc.. run this gun with at least level 3 armor and level 3 vest. Get used to the AK by running it over and over.. then start to add things to the build as you get better. I’m now adding a suppressor to my AK for each raid. I’m scared as hell going in to start, but I have survived 3 straight so far and have killed multiple PMC who also have suppressed weapons and gear. Trust me if you just buy like 5-10 AKs and mod them all, you will get so much better using them

I doubt you'll see this but I just got this game yesterday and my biggest thing is that I'll have someone lined up and yet I diddnt hit them and I just dont understand how some of the aiming works at least with iron sights, what's a good way to judge how many meters away you are? Is there bullet drop? Do some guns go threw walls and some dont? How did you learn maps and extraction points? What's your goal going into just a random raid? I dont have any qeust unlocked yet so I'm just kinda running around hoping I find stuff, is there something else i should be focusing on?

Here’s the general rules from a 700 hour 2 wipe player- 1- your weapon dictates the recoil and bullet drop of it’s bullets, and your ammo type dictates the actual raw damage and penetration 2- iron sights are weird, if you have both a front and back one your good, but if you have one or the other on your weapon your gun literally won’t shoot where you point it, the billets will stray of course. Iron sights aren’t required if you have a scope at all 3- helmets are weeeeird, as they stop lower caliber bullets but not higher caliber, depending on what armour class. Every helmet has a “richotchet” chance, it could be low, med or high. You could have a shitty level 1 helmet that can block a 50. Cal bmg sniper bullet, if luck is in your favour. Rochotchets are all luck, and some bullets fired at you are more or less likely to richotchet. 4-penetration- 1-10 is liquid ass, shooting armour is pointless, body or head. 10-20 a lvl 2 armour still blocks a lot, it will take a good few shots to drop someone with good armour. 20-30 pretty good, lvl 3 armour will be your max 30-40 lvl 4 armour can block 3-4 shots here, kills quickly 40-50 lvl 5 armour respectively 50-60 destroys armour in seconds, cuts through lvl 6 armour like butter. 5-damage- sometimes it’s better to shoot a geared player in the legs, known as “leg meta” if there body and head are armoured enough. This is because your bullet may not travel through armour, and your legs cannot be armoured. It is usually slower then shooting someone in the chest or head if they have no armour. 6- your goal in raid is to kill and complete quests. Tarkov is a HARD game for everyone who plays it, and requires grit and skill but it is so rewarding it repays this tenfold. Once you hit pmc lvl 10 you are able to access the flea market, were fellow players determine the price of items. Here you can buy almost any item in the game, but if you level up vendors you can get better prices. 7- experience, aka exp. playing as a scav you do not gain any experience, even if it says you do on the win screen. Playing as a pmc, you can earn exp by looting body’s, exploring and killing enemies, either scav or pmc. 8- the difference between scavs and pmc’s are apparent. As a scav you spawn mid way through a raid, but as a pmc you spawn at the very start. This is why you see dead body’s, as it is after the bloodbath at the very start of the raid. Calling it “hard cover” does make it clear, but that’s technically redundant. Anything that protects you from fire is cover. Anything that protects you from being seen is concealment. So bushes are concealment, and barricades are cover.
