I've been hunting a very similar small property set up this year. Everyone always says that you can't hunt unless the wind is right. I'm sure there is some wisdom in that, but I've learned that just like in your video the deer don't always bed in the same areas, and you don't necessarily know which angle they will be coming from. I ended up hunting my spot even though the wind wasn't right the other week because I had the day off and could hunt. For some reason a bunch of deer came from the direction I didn't think they would come from. And then a couple deer ended up coming from the direction I expected, but they never winded me. I'm not sure if the wind was carrying my scent over them or maybe I just did a really good job with scent control. I would have missed out if I decided not to hunt that spot. I enjoyed this video, thanks for sharing!

Thank you Sean. I hunt small lands (10-20 acres) surrounded by houses and liked your food tip. I will ask the owners and see what they say. And please remember, every deer you miss out on because of videoing, 10 others get taken by those of us watching due to what you showed us. 🙏

@@seansoutdoors well what Jeff said isn't fair to you Sean even though we love your videos & knowledge u share we or I don't want you to ever miss a chance that you've worked so hard for trying to teach and influence us as the viewers... I hope that you can hunt first and then possibly narrate & video after the hunt or kill / recovery... I know that videoing can take away from your hunt so with that being said you should mainly try to aquire a shot at your target buck or atleast focus on the hunt and the footage doesn't have to play such a significant part in every hunt ... just don't let the camera keep u from being able to use your weapon of choice & killing your quarry of choice ... be good and be good at it Sean ! May God guide & bless you in all you do ... take care partner !

Small properties can be very productive. I hunt on 1 acre and harvested 3 deer this year and 2 last year. Behind my property is twelve acres of old overgrown farmed land, a ridge, cliff, and swamp across the road. On my property. I created a small food plot using a mixture of sunflowers seeds and a "deer" seed mixture from TSC. (I accidently discovered deer love young sunflowers. It is like crack for deer. Just buy a 50-pound bag from Walmart and plant in early August. I'm in NY and sunflowers will last until the snow falls.) Between my property and the 12 acres, it has thermal cover, safety, transitional area, water, and food. There is a deer trail and thick brush that funnels the deer to the corner of my property. Unfortunately, the property doesn't hold bucks, but they do come through on occasion when they look for does. The 12 acres behind me is not hunted so deer from the surrounding areas go there during gun season for safety. I don't burn out my corner (by hunting it every day) and the resident deer are used to human smells. I monitor the deer trails and food plots with Blink cameras. I run a wi-fi extender and also piggy-back the Blink cameras.

I feel this struggle, I'm hunting a 30 yard wide tree line between two fields with a ditch running the middle of the tree line. Unfortunately, the wind always seems to be blowing from the south and I have to enter from the south as I do not have permission to enter the other fields around me. There are massive scrapes and bedding areas in my tree line. Hopefully the higher power above will help me get my first deer.

Your sacrifices are appreciated. Have you thought about saddle hunting? I started using a Tether Phantom last year and man what a difference it made. Much easier to find a tree and stay obscured.

Hey Sean I finally got a good shot at a buck with my new V3X I got from Palo Outdoors . 33 yard shot and only went 40 yards. I was about to give up and asked the Lord to send a buck my way and ten minutes later success. You bet there was a follow up prayer. God Bless. Al from DeWitt

Even on a small plot of land, IOWA is deer Heaven on earth! Yes, self-filming complicates hunts and I've left the camera in the car, and am relying solely on my TACTACAM in hopes of keeping my movements to a minimum this year. Good tip about hunting this only once per week and when the wind is right brother!

Great video. I hunt a property that is 1.5 Acre's. It joins a large property that nobody hunts on. It is a mile from city limits. There are a few houses so I have to be careful about where I shoot. I've never killed any big deer there but I usually take a deer every year. I've killed many trophy bucks over the years at other places and Its a thrill. I love to eat deer so I'm happy with anything at this place. I love having somewhere that's my own.

Thanks for the info. We just found two brand new scrapes and a licking branch on my girlfriend's parents property today (looks like it's an immature buck though). But it was very close to a stand her father already has up. Road construction is throwing off movement though 🙄. Thanks again for the info, God bless brother 🙏 Sean from BardsFM

I just started hunting a small plot of woods/about 7 acres, Brush very thick, but many deer signs, scrapes etc. , Not many big trees I can use for a stand, I have been trying to clear me out a silent trail I can use going in and out, I know there are some good bucks in there, I have seen them going in and out, not any luck so far,...anything else I`m missing.

Invest in a saddle and you can hunt almost any tree you want.

That's what I hunt from my friend. The problem is that there are no trees big enough and set back for quality shots in the area that could hold my weight. Can't hunt from a saddle if there are no trees big enough to set up in. I'm using the only tree in the area big enough and also set back from the major trails that would enable a quality shot

Do they have a bow cam that you can just pick up your bow slowly and start getting ready for shot and hit record 🤔. Love your channel following you since 10,000 subs when you lived in PA, my favorite video was your scouting video and locating bedding and travel and tree stand location.

I haven't yet hunted but I do have one important question: what do you do if you successfully shot the deer but it runs off and dies in one of the neighbors' properties?
@seansoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the state. Some will allow you to get it. Some require you to get permission. If the person denies then in some states there is nothing you can do. Most people let you though.
@kdog337Ай бұрын
How do you handle property lines and the deer potentially running off site? Do you have permission to retrieve? Here in IL I have small property to hunt on (1 acre) but was concerned about that. Does shot placement make a difference?
@seansoutdoorsАй бұрын
Depends on the state. Where I live it is the law you are allowed to go on a property to retrieve it (without your weapon). Done states you need permission
@miltonl92352 жыл бұрын
I think the predator hunting video will be an interesting variation from what you normally do, Sean. Perhaps a big challenge as well being at night. In regards to that property, why not hang out at or near the barn in a blind if they travel through there? Just a thought.
@seansoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
The barn and the field are on different properties and I'm not allowed to hunt them. The stand I set up in is only 28 yards from the property line with the barn property.
@miltonl92352 жыл бұрын
@@seansoutdoors ah... gotcha! Can u set to the left of the house but close in a blind, or does the owner want you further out? If not, you could set it up and hunt it the following week once the deer got used to the new structure. That is a challenging property for sure!
@seansoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Not possible. There are so many blow down trees from the Derecho storm we had a few years ago that you cannot even walk through there. There are only two places the deer have been able to make trails and you wouldn't be able to shoot at them from the ground.
@cray-z74042 жыл бұрын
I bet that trying to get video footage can interfere with your hunting and keep u from being the best hunter you could be if you weren't trying to be a good videography person ... hunt first , video second and narrate the hunt after the hunt or kill / recovery 😆 !!!
