The most important part of looping is to push the bar out once the kite has completed the loop, this makes sure the kite accelerates above you so you can loop to catch you as you land.

Your advice at 5:15 about looking 10 degrees back is absolutely crucial. Learning kiteloops this summer I wasn't aware of this, got pulled sideways out of control and got absolutely destroyed (end of my summer due to a rib injury) from it on the water.... tried them again since knowing this tip and solved the issue 100% for me :)

Hi Laurie, Yuri and team, thanks for the great jump footage, tips and especially will remember the part of looking back. With that said I am happy to stay with non-kite-loop jumps and kite loops in transitions & downwind. Maybe I will get there but already just thrilled to get out on the water and ride the wind 😊.

Nice Video! Regarding jump height and safety of the loop there are some weird things mentioned in this video, a kiteloop can be performed at 2/3 meters of height and still be catching you more than enough for a smooth landing. It’s just important that the take off is into the wind and not just with the wind.

line tension is the key, this 5-7m death zone used to b there with older gear but now if you are well powered on something bad for big air, the good technique is whats important. Also video says just comit.. make sure you are ready for it. heli loop landings and sent jumps. big consistent jumps first!

Always start trying them in butter flat water, no worries about getting the take off wrong. You will save yourself lots of time and pain. And the #1 most important tip nobody ever told me is to SHEET OUT after the loop, literally push the bar away from you as far as you can and that kite will shoot over your head and catch you for a nice smooth landing (or crash).

@gnorweb7339
@gnorweb7339 22 күн бұрын
Kite loop as a noun means a loop with the back hand, which is also rarely called a back loop. To add confusion back loop is also an old old term for a backroll. Also to add confusion kite loop is an adjective term that is applied to any time a kite loops. Back loops, contra loops, down loops, and heli loops could all be described as kite loops, but these are all different. To illustrate, a kite loop with the front hand is called a contra loop because the loop goes the opposite way to a kite loop (back loop). Kite loops (back loops) and contra loops are both done before or at the apex of the jump. Down loops and heli loops can be done with either hand. However, down loops and heli loops are done after the apex of the jump.

Awesome vid, but these aren’t mega loops. Also good to note when to pull the loop, when starting pause at the apex for a softer loop, then once more confident do it just before the apex for a more horizontal pull and the kite will also recover quicker

I can only do small backrolls with loops. Up to 2-3m high maybe. When I'm facing the kite and don't do the roll I always get out of balance but with a backroll it just feels natural no matter how early I do the loop.

Super nice video! However, I don’t think a 3 strut kite generally loops more gentle then a 5 strut (2:03). I would generally opt for a 5 strut kite for looping as it’s more stable in stronger winds. How big the pull is depends more on the shape of the kite.

the most important thing is you have to have a great pop. if you don't pop hard enough you'll go downwind to much and there will be a lot of slack in the lines after you looped the kite which results into the kite not catching you in time and your knees will have to take on for the team

i like your videos but this one was a bit superficial. what about pushing the bar forward (after looping) to help the kite climb back to 12 o´clock? looping is fun but needs commitment. it´s not that technical but fun, if you try and fully commit to it. a tip, which helped me a lot: don´t oversteer the kite (past 12:30 o´clock) for a higher pop/jump. this will bring slack in your lines during the loop and the kite will not climb as fast back to 12 o´clock, as you need to land safe. ... just try and enjoy, and stay safe.

You should have mentioned not to use a seat harness for kitelooping as due to the pull coming from your center of mass if you spin sideways when the loop yanks you gravity doesn’t bring you back vertical.

Looping with a 5 strut kite is not more pewerful than with a 3 strut kite, but more even. the pull from a 3 strut kite, like the Core GTS is more powerful. But the most important information is, that you have pull the loop almost at the peak of your jump. When you pull it straight after your takeoff, the kite will pull you heavy out of your control and it won't catch you. So take care of yourself and get it :)

My first kiteloops were when I had no ability to control the kite, and mostly flying horizontally with the kite crash-landing in the water. I can only do surface loops/downloop waterstarts at this point so I wouldn't say I'm an expert or anything as I've not taken them off the water. What I will say is to get comfortable with looping the kite, I practiced like when I was learning power dives--in waist deep water with no obstacles, no board, and in lower wind. You can get a good feel for how it works pretty safely this way.

1:08 bro what?! I weigh like 70 kg and I'd say im a pretty good light-wind rider but an 8 in 15 kts is not gonna do much. you can barely ride with a 12 in that windspeed. I'd say practice your first loops with an 8 or 9 in around 20-24 knots depending on your weight of course
