Just had my second foil session on 10m Soul 2, watched so many of your videos on foil kite. Going to take a lot of getting used to but it has an amazing low end.

I used a 2 litre PETE fizzy drink bottle covered in tape and filled with water as the roller. The bumpers were made from five polystyrene balls cut in half and glued in place with impact adhesive. I didn't bother to paint anything as my board - an old shelf - was already smooth enough and splinter-free. Use what you've got in the shed!

Nickel Iron batteries or Sodium Ion batteries are both incredibly robust tough climate, battery choices, albeit quite bulky. But if placed on the ground in a weatherproof box with solar panel and PWM controller, it should work at 12v with car USB abapters to convert to 5v USB. Alternatively or augment it with a micro wind generator.

God I got to step up my group management skills. That's pretty next level! The DJ parties with all the equipment 😄 Love the idea of the 1 dinner each, but I definitely wouldn't choose meals that require the whole day. That's not a Beef wellington type of night. Either any kind of stew that you can leave for like 6 hours and go kite. Or a big BBQ. Or have hors d'oeuvre ready and make people eat later so you have like 2-3 hours to make someting

Thanks for the introductory video, but sadly some parts of this intuitive explanation are not correct. The fluid dynamics of a wing are well understood and there is NO debate in science, which I think is a very important fact. Next, your explanations are not consistent with real experiments. Let's consider the great Bernoulli experiment with blowing over paper. If the resulting force is from deflecting the flow, the force acts on the flow -> hence the paper doesn't move. In reality pressure and velocity are essential parts of Navier-Stokes-equations (which we can simulate very well and exhaustively describe fluid mechanics as far as we can observe it). Hence, for the paper experiment the low pressure zone pulls up the paper. And the flow arrows with deflecting the flow are a very misleading friend: pressure acts in all directions at the same time, without any preferred direction.

I'm completely against Bernoulli or Venturi high/low pressure this and that for hydrofoils. Gasses experience pressure gradients readily, but liquids don't as they can be assumed to be incompressible. Maybe for wings and spoilers going through the air, but not hydrofoils going through the water. I would say Newton's third law for hydrofoils.

my friends just use some vaccuum bag with their foil kites (flysurfer 15/19), they put them inside, empty the air and save some volume in their bag.

Hi! Do you need a 12m to foil in 10-15 knots or will the 10m Soul 2 have enough power?
@OurKiteLife
@OurKiteLife Ай бұрын
It would depend on your foil setup and weight. With a larger front wing, a 10m Soul 2 should have enough power in 10-15 knots.

What is the point of a foil kite as opposed to a normal kiteboarding kite?
@OurKiteLife
@OurKiteLife Ай бұрын
There are many advantages to a foil kite. They offer better low wind performance- which is especially advantageous if you live in a low wind area as we did. Size for size, a foil kite offers more power than an LEI, as well as better hang time on jumps. Other advantages are not having to pump, smaller pack down size too. Some riders prefer how they fly. Of course, there are pros and cons to foil kites (as there are with LEIs), so really comes down to personal preference :)

If you want to add extra cushion to the edges of your surfboard or foilboard /wingboard, cut a poolnoodle in half and wrap/tape it to the edge around it. It’s drop safe 👍🏽

What are your thoughts on getting the Ride Engine electric air pump instead of the bulky, manual air pump? Especially, since you use foil kites as well LEI.
@OurKiteLife
@OurKiteLife 2 ай бұрын
Definitely saves some space compared to a regular manual pump. I don’t have experience with the Ride Engine one, but as long as it’s not super heavy (it looks to be pretty small in photos), I think it could be great for travel.

@@OurKiteLife I just returned from Cuba and was the envy of the kiters there because I brought an electric pump. Mine is the Airbank brand and is excellent. Pumped my kites all week, as well as others, without having to recharge it. Of note, because it's a lithium battery, you need to bring it with you on the plane as part of your carry on. Stowing it in your checked bags is not permitted due to the potential fire hazard. I predict these electric pumps will be the new standard very soon.
