It’s that awkward time of year where you know you need to prune and cut on them but before they send up the new growth😅 Personally, I like to prune them to show off the culms near the bottom. I love that you’re guiding them based on feed and sun. I’m also starting to get frustrated with the people who don’t know a damn thing about bamboo except for what they’ve heard somewhere, and comment like they’ve grown it for years…

I've got my bamboo in big container pots. But I do love your hedge of it. It definitely gives your garden that jungle vibes.

It's really interesting to see the growth in ten years. I planted some Fargesia robusta a couple of years ago as a hedge and some last year. I planted it about 50cm away from the fence and have allowed 50cm on the other side, so 1m in total to allow growth. Looks like it was a good decision and it will probably be a good few years yet until I have to thin it out. I also have some fargesia nitida "black pearl" in a shady corner, which I'm hoping will eventually give a "little" protection for my tree ferns in the same corner.

I really like the different forms of bamboo, like to see it in botanical gardens, but probably wouldn't grow it in my garden because of the way it spreads.

Yes most do spread or get very tall, but there are short crumpers as well

Hardly, almost all of the land immediately nest site m door is conifer or outbuilding
