Prepare ahead of time is even more important as you get older. I tested for Cho Dan this year at age 49. I had to spend more time doing extra physical prep: running, cycling, weights, etc. Our day was 9 hours, and I knew I’d need better fitness than just what normal classes require.

This is such good advice. I dislocated my shoulder (multiple times) and fibula during my recent 3rd Degree test. Passing my 3rd Degree testing (the day of) was 99% mental and 1% physical, but I trained hard to get to that point. So I just went out there and did it.

Thank you for this video. I have been practicing TKD for over 3 years. I got into it to learn self defense & now I find myself hi redbelt & facing a black belt testing in August or October. I don't have a training buddy but do pay for private lessons 3 times a week with a 6th degree blackbelt. I will talk to my instructors regarding what to expect. I will be 68 by the time I test but they do cut some slack to save my knees etc.

So timely, Master Samery. I started preparing in April for November BB test (1st Dan). I have a booklet we follow, and essay and verbal presentation. I write and present often in my job already, practice my Poomsaes, 1-steps, technical kicks, and cardio. Thanks so much for posting this. I certainly appreciate it. Cheers, Ma'am. Great post!

@garycollins8655 жыл бұрын
@@kimberlynguyen809 WOW, 2nd Dan is at least 2+ years away for me. For my BB test in a few months, I attend the dojang at least, usually three times per week and I workout at home on kicking techniques, flexibility, 1-step sparring (self-defense), Poomsae. My sparring experience should get me through that particular conditioning test and I'm fit enough to get through the jogging, exercises, etc... Not sure if that helps; you're way ahead of me. Best of luck to you though, Ms. Kimberly. I just subscribed to your TY channel.

@fnibbit Жыл бұрын
very late here. I'm not a black belt (three belts away, 3 gup) but if you're only 46 lbs you probably won't have much muscle to break boards with, nor the mass that gives you force, but it really depends on the person.
