I’m 74, and received my 1st Dan in November. I need to work on my endurance and these drills are awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful drills!
@kathyquigley72012 жыл бұрын
Totally awesome. I am 70 years old and have been training for 17 years in the martial arts. Keep training. Breathing techniques and meditation are so important. My endurance sometimes in sparring teenage boys is better than theirs. They are out of breath before me.

Ry Ry yEs ofc. I’m obviously way younger than you and you’ve probably heard this, but the higher the belt, the tougher the training and harder techniques. Age usually doesn’t play a role but I think as you progress, everything will.. naturally come to you easier. (Im a blue belt, going for green in December and my training is hARd 💀 my legs don’t even work anymore after training lmao)

I really like where Samy's going with her emphasis on training; providing introductory vids on YT and more in-depth vids in her online training academy. I'm taking the Bo Staff Beginner's course and it really expands on her 3 YT vids on Bo Staff. Still would like to see a rock climbing vid since that's her new "kick."

I have a question for anybody who has practiced taekwondo or karate. I've noticed that a lot of people don't pivot there back foot all the way. I'm a 1st Dan Jr Black belt in karate, and since my first day i was taught that you have to pivot your foot all the way so it's pointing straight back. Idk if it's because it's a different art or what, but it's something that I've been curious about for years now
@alexisspain2025 Жыл бұрын
Yes you are supposed to pivot your back foot but I don’t know why she doesn’t do it

The two biggest mistakes that young martial artists make is they hold their breath and they keep their muscles tense all the time. Remind yourself to breath over and over and to keep your muscles relaxed. And also just keep going to class and doing your best at everything, you will get better and stronger if you just dont quit.

I have to continuously work on my cardio. Samy made a great cardio/footwork/sparring video in November or December last year that's quite involved. I ran it hard and improved. My first completion was at like 13 minutes, but the last time I did it I finished in 7. I also perform non-stop sparring on my stand alone bag at home for at least 90 seconds, take a 30 second break, then do it again. It's very challenging at first, but stamina improved. Good luck, you'll do it.
@garycollins8655 жыл бұрын
@@MP-db9sw Agreed; that was a problem with me, I give a little kiup after each kick to regulate my breathing.
