I live in tropical climate near the sea. At 2nd floor balcony I have build concrete planter with 10 cm wide & 20cm deep, no shade at all. Its not ideal for growing anything but Lantana can survive the intense heat & heavy rain as well. Its growing well for 3 years now.

These flowers are beautiful and so easy to grow because they are extremely drought tolerant BUT they are unbelievably invasive and can consume your whole garden if you don't constantly cut them back. They are actually an invasive species that smothers all other plants in your garden, masking themselves as a "pretty flower" . Don't plant them. I speak from experience. 😒

They're not that invasive. I have one that grows normal in my garden. It's like a small tree and it hasn't consumed my yard for years now. I also don't see any seedlings growing near it. If you want truly invasive, then try Cairo Morning Glory. This one smothers nearby plants and have stems/runners in ground that grow into individual plants in random places.
