I know I’m a little late to the party, but I just ordered my panel and threads. Now I can’t wait to get started! I took an in-person free-motion class this past week with another instructor, Debby Brown, who taught us many of these designs and techniques. I’m so grateful for that class. I feel like I might be ready to do this challenge, now. Thank you Angela, for helping so many of us with our quilting fears! It’s funny how, as I’m piecing quilts, I’m already studying it for the quilting. Thank you so much! I couldn’t do it without you!

I just yesterday bought a mid arm, taking a leap of faith. Today I found this video. I’m going to use this series to help me learn to use my machine once I have it. I’ve watched your videos for several years to help me quilt on my domestic machine, so it feels right to refresh and learn more in this new experience, with you. Thank you..

"I'm on this last "plus" block.... I'm sooo very terrible with swirls. On the second "plus" block my swirls are more meander looking. I know I need a lot of practice but that's why we are here, right? I so appreciate your lessons and this challenge . I am using a Husqvarna Viking Platinum 735. Probably not the best for FMQ, but its all I have, so its what I'll be using. I'll post on FB very shortly. Thanks Angela.

I love your videos and I really appreciate the free tip sheets to jog my memory afterwards. I've been binge watching your FMQ videos and they are making me improve immensely and actually enjoy quilting! TFS.

I’m quilting, very basically, my second ever quilt. I’m going to make some blocks and have a go. You’re giving me hope that I may be able to master some curves sometime in my life 🤣

I love how you make it seem so easy to move around the block! I always get confused - even with diagrams. Guess that ease comes with lots of practice! It is also wonderful to see how basic designs you showed in the very first challenge can be changed just a tiny bit to make something new! I am not doing this challenge but will certainly incorporate these ideas in the work I am doing at the minute and in the future. Thank you Angela.

I really like the diagram in the right hand bottom corner. It is easier to follow and see the whole design

If you put the practice pattern into a sheet protector, you can use dry erase marker to practice, wipe sheet protector with a scrap of batting and practice, practice, practice......save a tree!

I had forgotten about that. Thanks for the post.

I purchased a huge chalkboard this past summer that I use for practicing the fillers, such as swirls and paisleys, etc. and even my ruler work. It has made a huge difference and has helped build that muscle memory. I also purchased a poster frame that I use for practicing with dry erase markers. I hadn’t thought about making a copy of the blocks to put under it to practice on. Thanks for the idea!

Angela has you tube videos teaching how to fmq and most of the designs in this challenge. Good Luck.

Is the foot not really touching the quilt? I've tried one but it gets hung on the seams. :-(
@little19424 жыл бұрын
Linda B Hi Linda! The foot should just hover over the the quilt top, but not too high or you’ll get skipped stitches. If it’s getting got up in the seams, it may be too low. Try raising the foot up just enough to be able to move the quilt freely. It may take a few test shots to find that “sweet spot” for the foot and machine. I hope that helps.
