I was unwinding a film roll for the first time but it sounded like it was ripping, thanks to your video I realised there’s a button underneath the camera you need to press first and now my films rolling smoothly thank you I doubt anybody else would’ve pointed that out 😭🙏

Another reason to process your film sooner rather than later, you tend to remember the conditions and settings you were using at the time when you shot the roll. Especially as a someone newer to 35mm film shooting, it helps to learn what went right or what went wrong when the day of the shoot is fresher in you mind. At least it did for me. Thx for the tips!

When you want to have your film not entirely wound back into the canister to make processing it more easy, listen for a click while winding (you also feel it in the leaver) and after that you only do half a turn. With that you have a bit of film sticking out of the canister. Don't forget to mark it as exposed!

Right - I always cut away the leader of the exposed film roles to a) not confuse it with unexposed film b) already prepare the roll for getting spooled up on the development reel. Therefore I always carry a pair of foldable scissors with my bunch of keys.

Thank you so much! I'm developing in a daylight tank with monobath and it was driving me crazy trying to get the leader back out without opening the can.

I usually make a hard fold at the leader to "mark" it as used.

Also afaik, some cameras also dont allow you to fully rewind the film into the canister. Because it is engaged to the take up spool through the sproket hole like in Fed 3 for example.

I have a plastic holder that holds 5 rolls of film. I have made a label that says "Exposed Film". My other film holders hold 10 rolls but are unlabeled. This system works for me

I leave my leader out to process at home. I rip the tag off to ensure the roll does not get re-exposed.

sometimes rewind crank doesn't turn when i advance film laver (like i already took 15 shoots and its was working properly buy once ints not turning and after turning rewind crank and making it tight advancing film lever and rewind crack turning good). It is ok?
@pushingfilm
@pushingfilm 2 ай бұрын
Yeah it's probably fine. Sometimes loose slack builds up in the canister, so the crank doesn't rotate until a few consecutive shots.

If they both have the same amount of leader out, and you have no other ways to backtrack... then there's only option of doing what's called a "clip test", unfortunately.

I accidentally opened the back cover for a split second when the film wasn't completely rewinded, I hope I didn't damage any portion of it, the whole process was done with a jacket onto the camera.
