Ooh I like the idea of using acrylic paint first and then water soluble oils on top. I love the look of oil paintings but intimidated by how fussy it is to paint with oils. Beautiful paintings. Would love to see a video of the process!
@ElaTell7 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! And I’d love to do a process video! Will have to plan that out since those take forever, but I think next time I’m doing a canvas painting, I will share the process so thank you for the suggestion ❤️

Oh my goodness! I can't wait to try that one either. I have used water soluble oils over oil pastel in a sketchbook and then covered the whole thing with fixative once it dried but this sounds like a wonderful idea
@ElaTell7 ай бұрын
@@habituallearner7680 it’s a great way to go because you can get the base layers down very quickly with acrylics. Just remember not to layer acrylics over oils because then they won’t adhere well

@ElaTell6 ай бұрын
I can do one but I can explain it here too because it’s super easy. I took an empty marker (you can purchase them) and then just poured golden high flow paint inside. That was literally it. I’m debating adding in some kind of flow agent to make them even more liquid but I haven’t decided yet.

I’m curious about the last sketchbook you showed. The pages seem to be fairly sturdy. What brand is it? Thank you. I enjoyed your sketchbook and your beautiful artwork. This was my first view of your channel. Very nice.
@ElaTell7 ай бұрын
Thank you so much and welcome to my channel! That last sketchbook is the large Art Creation sketchbook by Royal Talens. The pages hold up very well to acrylics and even watercolor a bit, even though it’s meant for dry media. The pages do buckle with any water added. But for dry mixed media, it’s really great.
@ElaTell7 ай бұрын
And wanted to add that if you want a sketchbook with really sturdy paper that handles watercolor and acrylic and everything else really well, I’d recommend the strathmore mixed media sketchbooks. That paper is excellent and can take anything.

Hi hun lovely video .. I do adult colouring in I use artist grade colouring pencils and neo colour 2 water colour acrylic paint pens ect in the books.. I’m recently learning to do water colour painting I did 2 flowers 💐 yesterday but struggled with the leaves is the a particular water colour brush I use my round paint brush.. thanks for sharing ❤❤❤😊😊😊xxxx
@ElaTell7 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! And that’s awesome that you’re branching out! You can get really nice leaves with a round brush by starting the leaf with the finer tip and then pressing the brush down flat to get the wider middle, and then finishing by raising it to the tip again. Hopefully that makes sense? I have a speed paint on my channel where I painted watercolor flowers that might be helpful. Please lmk if you have any questions though! Just have fun practicing 😊❤️

I'm just starting ad an artist. I wouldn't say artist. Lol. So I think my favorite medium is acrylic because I feel watercolor is a constant restraint on color and you, at times,just want the vividness shown with acrylics. I'm stoked about Ponca and the art world. I'm gonna begin to collect because I just can't imagine a marker colorful.
@ElaTell6 ай бұрын
I’m a firm believer that you’re an artist as long as you do one thing - make art! So if you’re making art you’re definitely an artist. And yes, I totally agree about acrylics. They’re so easy to work with and behave themselves, unlike watercolors lol

Looking at your pens, I was thinking you might like the Ohto Graphic Liners. To me they are very similar to the Microns, but they have a metal tip instead of a felt tip, so it doesn't wear away on rough paper!

J aimerai trop voir cela ❤
@ElaTell7 ай бұрын
Merci beaucoup!

Yes to the sketchbook tour. Sketchbooks aren't for completed works. They are for ideas, value studies, thoughts, roughing or a plan, etc. I couldn't care less about a pretty sketchbook with "completed" works. They are boring as hell. So what you see the same girl on 100 different backgrounds or the same flowers a 1000 times over. It's shit and teaches nothing. That's what a student does. Not a teacher. The education for viewers comes from seeing the thought process. Not the work.
@ElaTell7 ай бұрын
That’s a good point! I’ll definitely keep that in mind for future videos and will go ahead and do a tour of the two working sketchbooks when I get them done although it’s still hard to imagine anyone wants to see that, even though what you say makes perfect sense :)
