@@BiankaWhye You're welcome. :) I worked in the industry for nearly 20 years. Everything I do in my business, I learned from that. Such as giving a discount to sell more volume. And it really works. So I sell $6 per bar, 2 for $10, 4 for $20.

I always try to avoid looking sellers in the eyes so they don't sey hello to me when I'm just teying to look around 😭 it's so awkward.

@@redwolfsden Yeah, I've seen that too. If I notice that, I don't say hi and just let them keep walking. I've been in customer service of some sort since I was 12 years old. I'm 47 now. It's really easy to tell when people are interested and when they aren't. Although saying hi can make the difference for alot of them to decide whether they want to come look or not. Although, being huggy with their cute dogs works too. Thing is, that's my favorite part of the markets. People bring their dogs for a walk and they are SO CUTE. I end up giving most of the dogs a pet as they walk around and the dogs love it. I adore animals. And some people bring their sweet kitties in little carriers. I've seen people walk around with their kitties in these very cool backpacks or a zipped up stroller like a baby. I miss my kitty so much.

I bring $100 in $1 and $5 bills...and yes most definitely do a test run of your table set up and take pics of it so you don't forget how it looked.

Rental spaces can be way too expensive. A lot of times artists don't brake even. I highly recommend taking the time to find out where the money for the rental space is going. If the rental is very pricey someone will be making money off you weather you make money or not. So just be aware of the rip off events. A lot of times I see people with great products not selling much at all. They leave feeling shitty and the event planners think everything went great. If you think the rental is too expensive communicate that with the event planners.

I've done a couple of local craft fairs for 4 years (before pandemic), selling my hand-knitted items, and I am hoping to get back to them again. I've watched probably 20 videos similar to this, but yours is the best I've seen! Really great practical info on all the things that someone needs to know, from booth setup, taking payments, being neighborly, and as another shy person running a booth, I appreciated your sensitivity to that as a vendor & for customers. I have not done my own booth other than flea markets, but I did write out a business plan to be a flea market host. When I was building out that business plan, my thought process was to do my own knitting and crocheting, but with tendinitis and going into carpal tunnel that’s not always easy for me to create the product. I had a knitting machine at one time but I don’t have the room for it now and they’re probably so damaged I’ll have to rebuy them. But over the years I have taken photos of the projects that I have done and I was planning to have a book available with my product and have an order sheet so if people liked the blue cable hat with a pom-pom, they can say number whatever in the book I want it in pink I want it with acrylic yarn so it can be washed and dried. Or if it’s a sweater they can give me a size and their preferred color or if they want it in wool you know whatever. That also is a way to get contact information and I see people on Facebook forums I was saying oh I have to do this for an order and I was always jealous of that but at the same time that also means you’re tied to other people want and it’s less creative. Being able to create an adult size sweater in an hour and a half on the knitting machine would be a lifesaver compared to the 3 to 4 weeks it may take me after my full-time job to create it. I’m still undecided on what I want to do so I’m just gonna let it sit for a while and stew and see what pops out.

Wow! You are so down to earth and easy to watch. This is easily my favorite vendor tips video so far. :) I’m still new to cons but I can vouch that setting up your table in a “dress rehearsal” a few days before and then packing it all up neatly with labels is essential. Also, I recently went to a con that was VERY slow, and all the vendors basically ended up swapping goods 😅 My booth neighbor and I both make comics so we did lots of swapping. Also, multiple vendors gave me free extras when I bought from them and struck up a conversation. The vending community is real!! Have fun, everybody!!

🌹Great tips!❣️ 1st show soon. I have folding shelf & rolling cart that I can put my art pillows in. I am selling a variety of art items. Have album art clocks, blankets. I use (pan lid)racks, file & taco shell racks to VERTICALLY stack art tiles or artwork. Use the racks for drying as well. May put a folding room divider up behind me.🤪

Thank you so much for the tips! I sell photos on either prints, canvases, mounted prints, etc. I always figured I'd need inventory. I thought maybe I should have small prints of each photo... and then something there to make a direct online order from. Or maybe have a few different products out so they can see what they'd be like. The email list idea is so good!
