Thank you for walking us through these studies! They proved what I thought & sometimes we take facts and connect it to other facts not recognizing it doesn’t mean there’s a direct correlation.

Thanks for this informative video Dr. Shahine! I've been researching this question for the last several months. I did start back on tretinoin after my recent miscarriage but stopped again once my cycle returned for upcoming IUIs. I actually have familial hypobetalipoproteinemia with an LDL of 17, and therefore likely have low levels of fat soluble vitamins like vitamin A. My previous doctors haven't checked anything except Vitamin D, which was pretty low. And my fertility doctor doesn't want to talk about it at all. Other doctors have told me in the past to supplement with high dose fat soluble vitamins: A, E, K, D. So that makes me think I'd be fine to use tretinoin while TTC and possibly through pregnancy because my vitamin A is probably low anyway. I'll ask my future OBGYN when I'm finally pregnant, and maybe someone will test my levels of vitamin A and E. Your video definitely made me less stressed about it and I feel better informed. So thank you!

I litteraly just started retinol about a month ago....just found out im pregnant today. I wasn't trying. I panicked about the retinol as well as the fact I just got cavitaion and radio frequency done a few days ago too not knowing or even thinking I could be pregnant. Just when you think you are done and too old for this and start caring for yourself life seems to slap you in the face apparently

Raw eggs are rich in retinol, and thata how I fixed my eyesight. How it can be bad? Study you mentioned, they probably used beta carotene as a supplement, which our body has to convert to use it. Retinol is only found in animal based foods, mostly in fatty foods.

Thus far (going through IVF) and my nurse said don’t do massages that has me on my stomach or have anything manipulated there. … I did a sit up upper back and neck massage prior to asking 😬 … also would like to know about shaving products … was unsure so stopped using veet or other products :/

Wondering the same, I get triggerpoint massages once a week for my chronic pain. I am also doing IUI, next month I will start my second IUI but not sure if I should stop getting the massages

What about breastfeeding, is there any data at that point? I actually used Roaccutanr but it was in 2017. I am 31 so I am interested in starting some more heavy duty antiage skincare soon, and I'm about to give birth in about a month.... my uneducated plan is to start retinol skincare about six months after, when my baby also starts eating solids and isn't dependant solely on milk (in the ideal plan, I'd breastfeed until about a year in, but ... we shall see what the nature will allow us to do :) )

Taking just random people and splitting them into retinol users and non-users, I can assume why there would be more birth defects in the non-users (not to say that retinol users decrease chances because they use retinol) - Retinol users are probably also more likely to be more health conscious overall. I mean if you're applying retinol, you are probably caring about your looks and your health. The number one beauty secret is to be healthy. And you're going to have better outcome in general. As a tretinoin user myself, I believe it wouldn't do any harm, but even so, I plan to go on the super safe side and stop using at least 3 months before conception.
@Eowynn23 Жыл бұрын
Hi there. Interesting. But what if you are a person with fertility issues trying to conceive since YEARS with very little chances of success? You just stop using retinol until menopause?
@afton9403 Жыл бұрын
@@Eowynn23 That's a great consideration, and would be unfortunate. If you wanted to, perhaps an over the counter lighter dose retinol could be acceptable. Personally, if that were me as an overly cautious person I would not use it at any time that conception is possible (which would be never using, since the infertility issues makes it so unpredictable). In that case I would use pregnancy safe products, and there are some good ones. There is the retinol alternative bakuchiol and also perhaps a niacinamide serum like Peach and Lily Glass Skin Serum which I am a fan of. I like Peach and Lily products and a lot of them are pregnancy safe, I believe. In general I would be focusing on optimal fertility diet and some supplements (which you can't go wrong because those things are just healthy for anyone in general!).

What about Botox while trying to conceive?
@drlorashahine Жыл бұрын
Botox is considered category C for pregnancy meaning we don’t have proof it is safe (and we don’t have proof that it’s not safe). Review with your doctor but likely best to avoid if for cosmetic reasons but may continue if necessary to treat migraines and other pain relief. Thank you for watching
