Funny that u said that... That's exactly what I said to myself last month when it got hot here in NW FL. Embrace it. I have to grow a different variety from my usual. It's just another opportunity to learn. 👩🏽🌾🙌 #HeatLoving🌽🍅🌶️🫑🫘🍈

I just found your videos, thank you! Could you spell the names of the seeds which you are talking about as you share? Just add the spelling of these seeds or plants to the video screen. Thank you for consideration of this request.

Question: during this monsoon season, I would like to plant arugula seeds in 2gallon pots. I’m thinking that the roots do not go very deep in the soil. Does this sound like a workable solution? I have several little 2 gallon pots. Thank you

You're pot choice is great. Arugula roots will have plenty of room with a 2 gallon pot. However, arugula doesn't like heat and will bolt and/or become bitter when temperatures are consistently above 65 degrees. I would hold off on planting the seeds outside until at least September. Just watch the temperatures and sow your seeds when the desert cools of a bit later in the season.

I live in Maricopa city gardening for the last 4 years. Now that temperature is over 100 i water 2x daily morning and evening. Funny i grow all the vegetables you stated except squash ( don't like squash) i have corns ready to harvest in a month. And i sowed more corns 4 days ago, germinated! Bty there is no fungus on my vegetables watering in the evening. If i don't water it 2x daily it all look dead until 8pm lol.

Nice job on your corn!

It’s me again. I’m hoping my garden is not producing much because of the heat. My husband and I have created a beautiful garden space. I have dealt with birds, bugs, rabbits, lizards, etc. I’ve learned a lot. I don’t understand why more of my plants aren’t producing vegetables. Not many flowers or bees. I want to do better with the fall planting. What do I need to do to get the soil ready? I have a mixture of dirt and compost. I’m wondering if that’s where I need to start. Thank you for your time and help.

I think the two most important things that helped me were selecting the right varieties and planting at the right time. If temperatures are above 90 degrees, for example, tomatoes and beans just don't set fruit well. I think if you choose some heat loving varieties and try again in August, it will be better. As for the critters...I know how determined they can be to get into the gardens we work so hard to plant. Just keep trying!

😮isn’t too hot for rodents to sample my 🌻 sunflower sprouts? I have my garden as secure as Area 51 and yet those nasty pests 😮seem to know the way in. What’s worse is when they taste and scurry away leaving a downed sunflower 🌻. What is the answer? I didn’t plant a garden to feed the wildlife.

The only thing that helped me was putting chicken wire cloches over the seedlings. I got them from Gardeners Supply. I'm so sorry that's happening!

Oh no! Maybe you can put something around the sunflowers to keep them out.

Good afternoon from CG Az, really happy to see people in Arizona gardening, because I'm trying to learn as much as I can because the day is coming when we have to go back to the old ways ❤❤
