It was so compassionate of you to mention that there are folks who rely solely on thrift stores to buy basic needs. I work in a Charity shop and we have clothed families from Paradise Ca., where families lost everything in a fire. That is actually our mission. In my observation Thrift Flippers look for different things than the budget shoppers in general. Our proceeds do benefit 14 community charities so all purchases are helpful to someone.

Today I’m donating a vintage bed frame. I didn’t look it over carefully enough before I bought it. When I got it home, I discovered that it would need some repairs. I let it sit for months and finally decided to donate. It was a hard lesson, but I learned that if something needs repairs, I won’t get them made and stuff just sits. Lesson learned.

What a great list! I have been thrifting since I was a little girl (my family jokes that it is our official sport). I have thrifted as a poor single mother and I've also thrifted as a reseller. I very much appreciate so much of what you covered here and I learn to something new. I especially loved what you said about both donating quality items and leaving treasures for other people. I often joke about keeping the thrift gods happy and being rewarded with good treasure but truly like you said it's about recognizing that it's a communal thing. Love your channel!

The other day I was at Goodwill and I found this pretty small white vase that had these beautiful brown/tan coloured markings. I actually bought it because of those marks. It looked so earthy and cozy. So I get it home and I’m washing all my new treasures…and the marks washed off. Kinda grossed me out…lol. I still love the vase but I couldn’t help but wonder what the heck were those marks made from…yuck. 😬

@@thisgirlathome haha…thank you. It sort of looked like maybe it had been splashed with coffee or something. I know my Keurig splashes a little when it’s brewing so I’m hoping it was just that. I pray to God it was just that…lol. It’s a glazed pottery piece.

Preach it, Chelsea! Resellers LOVE to use the argument that there’s “enough for everyone,” but there isn’t. In any Goodwill there is a small, finite amount of good vintage items. The rest of the items are inexpensive and disposable. If the resellers REALLY thought there was sooo much good stuff, why do they go as soon as GW opens and hover over the new carts? Such hypocrites.

Preach. Prices have gone way up because of resellers. It’s not fair to the shoppers who are buying for their homes.
