I would like to recommend the Frans Hals museum, While Frans Hals is too much undervalued. He is innovative for his time and actually he is one of the very great of northern baroque painters. He is incredebly good !!

Nice museum, I’d recommend going around 9-10 am to avoid the crowds. It’s easy to navigate with the map they have there. I enjoyed reading about the art and I’d recommend minimizing time on your phone. So many ppl on vacation spend it looking at a screen and not what’s around them

Great tips! And to add to that, its a smart to bring your own food & drinks as well. The cafe isn’t that big, so waiting for some space can be an issue.

I very much like the Kröller Müller museum in Nationaal park De.hoge Veluwe (the national parc De hoge Veluwe). The Veluwe itself is very beautiful too by the way

I’ve lived in Rotterdam for all my life (one hour away from Amsterdam), but I never knew this. You even managed to film for us. I never even went to the Rijksmuseum. And it all looks and sounds really interesting from your video. How weird huh 😄 You have enticed a local like me to visit her country’s sights. I suppose a lot of people are still tourists in their own country, if that makes any sense.

Thank you so much for your comment here. :) I'm so glad that my video has enticed you to possibly visit the Rijksmuseum. I think what you've said about being a tourist in your own country totally makes sense too. I've done the same thing before when I was living in Malaysia and UK.

Excellent introductory video, Daniella. I’m so glad to have come across this video. The museum looks absolutely beautiful. How long does one usually spend there? We’ll be in Amsterdam about 2 1/2 days before cruising out of Rotterdam, and also want to take in the Van Gogh and Rembrandt museums. 49 days away!
@pocketlighthouse2 жыл бұрын
Hi Brad, thank you so much for your kind feedback on this video. There is a lot to see at the Rijks and you could easily spend 4-5 hours in there. It really depends on the person though. Personally I prefer to spend about 2-3 hours focusing on specific areas of the museum otherwise it gets too tiring! Hope you have a lovely trip visiting the Netherlands.

@pocketlighthouse2 жыл бұрын
Hi Celine, I'm afraid I don't remember the exact directions walking from the cloak room to the lockers, but they're v close to each other. There are plenty of staff around to ask for help, so it would be best to ask once you arrive. I hope you enjoy your trip there.

Hi Daniella, I’m planning to visit this museum this weekend and watching this video, it got me wonder about something. You mentioned the cloak room/locker in the video, is it a must to leave the personal belongings before browsing the museum?
@pocketlighthouse Жыл бұрын
Hi there. When I made this video, I contacted the Rijksmuseum about backpacks, and they advised that any backpacks are checked into the cloak room/lockers. I don't know if you'd actually be stopped from entering with a backpack, but it's a much nicer experience walking around without one. I'd definitely advise bringing a smaller bag if you'd like to keep your valuables on you.

Are those lockers located just outside the museum? Or where exactly I should go to get there?

The lockers are located inside the museum. I don't remember precisely what they were next to, but the staff are very helpful and can immediately point you in the right direction.
