I disagree with the don't wear a pad advice. Wear a tampon AND a pad. It's pretty common to put in a tampon and 45 minutes later it's all full and starting to leak. I'm always very glad to have the pad on in those instances. (also, it's strange to me when people feel so weird when they talk about periods. There's nothing wrong with it at all.)

Period cups. If one doesn't fit, try a another, and then another type until you find the one that fits. If no one fits, oh well. Tampons (etc) it is 🙂

For our periods, look into period cups!! It has saved me in every instance in my life, it also cuts out the smell so when you’re rolling with your partner they won’t smell you. I’m always nervous about that😅

#9 Jewelry... especially rings, brackets, and earrings. Applies to some men also. Often easy to forget to take off and not always assured that someone else will notice you are still wearing them. Nothing is easier or hurts more than getting jewelry caught in a sleeve and having your knuckle wrenched or part of your ear come off. Leave them at home or bring a bag or container specifically for them. Also... really easy to loose. Home is best. Car isn't a bad idea also.

Hi Marjorie! I'm currently looking for a place to learn jiu-jitsu in my city and I was wondering whether you think it's better to start in an all women's program or a mixed program. I'm not nervous about the idea of sparring with men but I'm nervous about being timid... any pointers?
@marjorieonthemat5487 жыл бұрын
edotblair Hello! Starting in a women's program would be great, however, they're hard to find. I started, and have since been, in a mixed program with men and women. It might seem awkward at first but within a few weeks you get comfortable... and that's coming from a woman (me) who always gave one-armed hugs and kept my distance lol. The best pointer I can give you is to be patient and try to be comfortable around both men and women for training, or else you will have limited partners. :-)

French braids are great! Just gets pulled apart when grappling for me. My hair slips out easy so buns are good for quick fixes. 😊

I asked my eye specialist about doing another martial art, but I don’t think he knows the difference between any of them. I think he thinks they’re all full contact mixed martial arts UFC
@marjorieonthemat5484 жыл бұрын
BlindKattBlues BJJ still has takedowns and use judo throws, but I would still think with vision impairment that you can still participate in BJJ. In fact many times when I roll, my eyes are closed anyway and I go by feel. Hopefully you started BJJ and it’s going well!

I'm trying to convince my wife to train with me, I started 4 months ago and she has come to two classes with me but won't commit. She does cross fit but got sore in ways that she didn't expect. Any tips?
@marjorieonthemat5487 жыл бұрын
Bullets and BJJ I know of other husbands who really wanted their wife to train BJJ, some stayed and some didn't. It might take some time for her to decide if its for her or not... constant bruises, broken nails, hair ripped out, and facial breakouts... some women will deal with it all and become addicted to jiu-jitsu, and others decide its just not their cup of tea. Only time will tell, and if she ends up staying, she may become more into it than you! Maybe...
@lp24967 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your wisdom, my only thing is I don't want to push her, I want her to train because SHE wants to, not because I imposed it on her..
@vannerz7646 жыл бұрын
Bullets and BJJ tell her the body has to adapt. Stretching defidently helps before practice
@BigBadassR6 жыл бұрын
Decades of training sisters, girlfriends, and women friends who think they are 100% willing to commit has taught me just to leave the welcome matt on the door, figuratively, but don't pressure. Don't have any expectations regardless of what they tell you initially, that way you wont be disappointed. The martial arts, done correctly, is a lifestyle and that isn't easy for most people to commit to. That's my opinion for what its worth, anyways.
@MrCmon1135 ай бұрын
@@BigBadassR But it's not a lifestyle and you don't have to commit at all. That's one of the great things about fighting sports. You don't commit to a team and you're not losing any licenses if you don't train. You can train whenever you want and be content with any level of skill.
