One caution for those who are looking to side-hustle with your full-time job is to not use your full-time job's equipment to do your side hustle. In most full-time roles, your employment contract states that things you create with company equipment belong to the company. So if you're looking to make extra money, use your own equipment. Most employers probably won't pursue you legally for this, but just protect yourself and your side hustle anyway.

Thank you for being so down-to-earth and realistic! Your advice is the most honest I've heard on the subject. Sure, there's a lot out there about how to deal with burnout, but rarely do content creators express their very human side of how life has ups and downs for them to. I appreciated your humility in admitting that sometimes you will sleep in for long hours and that some days you don't. Often, creators talk about building schedules/their routines and incorporating rest, but it often sounds rigid still - not taking into account the ebbs and flows of life. It brings me peace to know that someone like yourself who has been doing this for a while still finds value in rest and allows themselves to be flexible without impacting their goals.

Loved these tips, Mayuko. what helps me is to decide the evening beforehand, on what I'm going to do when I'm home from work the next day. That way I don't have to think about it and just take those next steps.

I like the nerdy/software engineer vibe in your advice - I'm talking about the part where you are saying taking past data and projecting to future data. I feel like that's so true. You just have to do it long enough and slowly over time you kind of learn how to manage your time or develop a routine and eventually even have the courage to ask friends to help instead of just be embarrassed about it... Or at least that's how I felt when I uploaded my first video. Ps. Your setup looks super zen and simple I love it. And your hair looks fab 😍

I am a med stud that loves coding so much that I create many apps and website for my side hustle. It is not much, but it is fun and help my finance a bit. However, I agree, that our main jobs/activities may disturb or pause side hustle to the point it reaches months of vacuum. And that is fine because our mental health is the most important to protect (at least for me). But sometimes my side hustle is the one who keeps my mind seen. That is why I am still coding do my side hustle for both reasons.

We're not made like machines but just as God needed rest, so must we. A lot of the time, in "hustle culture", we forget the importance of rest and end up burning out while not caring for emotional and spiritual needs. I agree, there is a lot to consider when planning for a side hustle or side passion.

You mention that you would set boundaries and work 9-5pm, but from my experience jobs seem to want you to work 8-5pm or 9-6pm (8 hours plus lunch) and I was just thinking, "Am I working too much?" Time is so valuable and that extra hour would be worth so much to our overall well-being and health

Good morning/afternoon Mayuko, I really enjoyed this video and it really helped me understand freelancing a bit better. I was wondering if you can ask for advice on how to balance a full time job and freelancing in terms of being able to do both without having to get into trouble with my boss. The reason I ask this is because my boss is a difficult person who is most likely not going to accept me doing freelancing on my own time after work and I don't want to get into trouble for doing something that will help me, as you said in your video, having multiple streams of income is important. Basically the best ways to approach it without getting into trouble with a difficult boss😅 I really appreciate all your videos and I feel so inspired by you. Thank you so much Kind regards.

I always plan the time to stop working for a day because the Rome wasn't built i one day. the second trick is, when i try something new, i will make sure that i will work on it at-least a day in week ( this mindset will make you better at planning )... this is working for me. it may work for you or not. Please share if you have any tricks as well

I feel you! At times when work fully consumed all brain energy I had, I worked on my side gig in the mornings before work so that I could have a clear mind to work on side gig stuff. I watched this interview between Matt Ragland and Charli Marie (who I'm lucky to call friends now!) talking about how they manage their time with their side gigs, which touches upon this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aomrq6VmpNGXqpI
