I realized within the first few months of my categorical general surgical residency that I had made a mistake. Thrilled to have matched into pathology this week and your videos really helped me with the decision and process of applying to pathology. Thank you so much! Wishing you best of luck with your career

Thank you for this! I am an MS1 but this is definitely something I'm thankful to be hearing about right now. If you work in academia and/or a non-profit for 10 years, are you absolutely confident that you'll qualify for PSLF? I'm curious because I've heard that a very small percentage of people actually go through with it since it's not likely to be forgiven, but I could be wrong. Thank you so much again, and I love all your videos!

Currently that is the premise of PSLF. Of course you would have to make sure you are in the right repayment plan and file the necessary paperwork yearly. There is no promise that the program will continue to exist in the future or if they will cap the amount forgiven. It has a bit of a political gamble feels. But, as of now, it is working.

Hello! love your videos! Just curious, did you ever consider doing only remote pathology? is this even viable from a job perspective as pathologist? Thank you! and goodluck with everything!

It isn't really possible to do full remote work as a clinical pathologist currently, but I imagine in the future it might be possible once the cost to start going fully digital is more attainable

Awesome channel! Are fellowships a necessity to be competitive as a pathologist?
@Baking_MD2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, it's almost an necessity now a days, especially if you want to work in a desirable location.

Thanks for the reply, do you think the job market is increasing for pathology? Also how’s the compensation post fellowship? Thanks again

These are great tips! Is it acceptable to try to negotiate your salary since it's your 1st job as a doctor? Thank you for another great video :)
@Baking_MD2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! I didn't talk about it because Stanford has un-negotiable set salary based on level and years of practice. This way it prevents salary discrepancies or internal disputes about unfair salary differences. But, you can always try negotiate for your salary at places that not have that kind of system. Unfortunately, for your very first attending position, you don't have much leverage (ie. salary from prior job) to ask for higher than what they have proposed in your contract.
