The issue with "advice" from pros is they often have forgotten what it's like being a novice. The advice is sound but the order is FAR more important. The first guy gets it. You need to know the BASIC game mechanics for that specific fighting game first above everything else. The amount of say Bardock players that would have never played him in any other Dragon Ball game is insane but yet he has a very fluid set of normals and enjoyable feel even if he wasn't top tier at the time. The last thing you want is to be using the worst character on the roster accidently and then realise the other characters you just happen to like. The nuanced details really do matter. I remember watching a pro "guide" on Cammy in SF5 and my god it was a zero advice piece. It literally just said "Cammy is an aggressive character. So try to get in a try to keep on the pressure". The actual information there was zero for a new player. A highly recommend a channel for Ceelow for SF5 characters because he goes through the specifics of each character you need to know for each rank. It's still not perfect but that is what I would start with for SF5. DBFZ is arguably the best for new players that also like the franchise. It's very accessible and can teach a lot of fundamentals that cross over to other games. It does have bad habits as well but generally it feels more fun I think for new players and feels less horrible when you lose I guess is the way I'd put it.

The lady at the end of the video sums it up for me....FEAR. i fear of people trashing and owning me.....i fear of playing people online and in the arcades... it makes me feel pressurizing when getting attack and combo...i sweat like buckets when playing someone better than me ..and my heart beats so fast.....i dont like that feeling...but when i keep on playing in this state...i just simply keep on losing and losing.... i need something to solve my problem...any advice..? I hate losing a lot as well as it is so so frustrating..

Just try to have fun. Look at the characters animations and admire how cool they are even if u are getting bodied.

Nah man dont listen to them. I was where you were. What you really gotta do is spend time in the training lab, and each day focus on practicing a new technique. Learn the frame data for each attack. Then learn all of your combos and master them. Then play 5 round matches against a hard or very hard cpu focusing on, neutral, meaning just try to block and punish. You will lose because the ai cheats, but it will train you to block and punish. After about a month of doing that for every day you play, and you know your combos and timing by heart, start playing kasual matches online, try to get best of 5 sets in, when you start losing, stop playing online. Go back to the training mode and start practicing new thing you learned from your previous opponent. Do this for a month. Then finally on your third month you will be ready to play online and you will not sweat, because your character will come so automatic to you, you wont even think about what buttons to press, you will just think what you want your character to do and your fingers will act for you. However it will take few months of practice mode. The biggest mistake people make is thinking playing online will make them better by playing more people. Play as few people as possible and as much time in practice mastering each new technique first. Beating ais doesnt help you get better either, only for training on how to punish and block timing. Use practice mode to set up certain scenarios and practice them over and over until you are tired then stop. Like literally the same button sequence hundreds of times up to a thousand thinking in your brain, well I didnt press that correct, ok next time ill put more pressure... and try pressing it on different timings so you know the perfect range and timing of what is necessary for each combo or sequence. This is why you have to also think while you are practicing, its not just muscle memory, its finding out exactly what is perfect, and once you find it, remember it, and pound it into your head by doing it a million times. Create good habits, and forget bad habits. The thinking process helps you discover what your good habits are and what your bad ones are. If you play online too early you will get discouraged and develop bad habits. I used the training mode for a month and once in a while Ill go online here and there to judge my continual progress until eventually I started beating people but also discovering new problems and techniques to practice along the way. Like real fighting training and martial arts, after you practice you will gain all of the confidence you need to win or atleast hold your own online.

Also by creating these good habits and developing a good foundation of how to master a fighting game you will be able to take this knowledge with you to other fighting games or new ones that come out and dominate. Because most people just play by just learning as they go and wing it when a new game comes out but you will have the good habits created by your dedication of training mode. The sequences, timing, gauging when buttons are to be pressed and the ability to do it fast, and strengthening those synapses in your brain will make you a great fighting game player. Therefore you will have a better foundation and be able to become a much better player in new fighting games than most without having to put in as much effort. Good luck to you
