Great video! Thank you girl for all the tips 💕 When you put the cuticle oil on last, do you wash your hands before applying the gel polish? Or do you just let the cuticle oil absorb and then apply gel polish?
@katesnails4 жыл бұрын
hi! i would recommend letting it absorb for about 30mins to an hour to really rehydrate the skin and nails, and then wash hands before any product application! this will make sure the nails are nice and prepped/dehydrated so the product can adhere 🤍
@CarolJoyable4 жыл бұрын
This was very informative, thank you. (Also, your nails are beautiful!) QUESTION: do you think one has to use the same brand for all steps while doing nail dip? Specifically, if I were to use all of the same application polished, could I just use a different brand of powder?

hi! thank you so much! to answer your question, you can totally mix and match different brands. i've never had an issue doing so, and that way i can use all of my favorite products to create a beautiful look!

Hi!!! Thank you so much for posting this video. Quick question- how does the acetone not erode your tips off?! Been having that problem lately :( thanks in advance!
@katesnails4 жыл бұрын
hi! i’m not quite sure if you’re referring to natural nail tips or fake tips. i have never had acetone really erode my natural nails but it will eat away at plastic tips. your best bet would be to file off the color to keep the dip and tips underneath in tact.
@alexisdoherty21314 жыл бұрын
@@katesnails hey! Sorry I thought since the video title said “tips on” that you had fake tips on your nails, and since you used the acetone in a bag I was wondering how it didn’t erode them. But, seems like they are your natural nails, so never mind lol. Thanks for the tip!!

How do you avoid the base brush from getting hard? I tried using gel thinner and it did not work
@katesnails4 жыл бұрын
you can use a brush restorer to fix a hardened brush. as far as preventing it from hardening, i recommend making sure all of the extra powder on the nails is wiped away before applying the base, and wiping it off on a lint free wipe between layers.

Do you recommend PH prep application for nail adhesion?
@katesnails4 жыл бұрын
i definitely do! if you don’t have a specific dehydrator or ph prep, i would recommend cleansing with rubbing alcohol for the same affect.
@heatherkellman34314 жыл бұрын

Did you apply more dip after this? If so, did you use a prep or leave the oil? I hear (and it makes sense) that you need to dehydrate in order for dip to adhere correctly. To me it just doesn't make sense to apply the oil before dipping again. When complete of course use oil. First time doing dip at home and I just want to be sure I understand. Other than that your video was very informative and well spoken :)
@sydneyneedham82624 жыл бұрын
Hello! In a lot of her other videos she makes sure to use a pH bond or alcohol to dehydrate the nails before applying dip powder. She probably used oil in this video to hydrate the cuticles after the acetone so her skin doesn't dry out.
@katesnails4 жыл бұрын
hi!! you’re completely right. in this specific video, i was mainly just focusing on the prep and care of my nails not especially for doing my nails right after. you definitely want to dehydrate the nails of any oils before application! in my other tutorials you’ll see me do so 😊

Here is my best method for dip removal: 1) rub Vaseline around nails 2) soak small piece of cotton with acetone and place on each nail 3) wrap tightly with foil 4) place hands in EMPTY ziploc bag 5) place hands in bag into bowl of hot water and dish for 5 minutes. This reduces amount of acetone needed and isn't so harsh on hands and nails.

Can I use dip powder with base coat polish only??

I tried this today and it was a fail. Maybe because I had tips on but literally took me about 3 hours to get them off😢 I e-filed my top coat. I did dip powder last weekend and took me 8 hours. They did look amazing. My plan was to go with a Christmas look, but I should’ve waited another week before removing them. Now they are bare until next weekend.

oh no! if you have tips on, cutting the fake nail off and filing majority of the product off will make removal faster 🤍

To remove mine, I used the soaking pads and tip clips. It's so much easier, less messy, and works best. I file, soak a couple pads with the acetone, apply the pads, folded to fit the nail, and apply the clips. In 10-15 minutes I remove the clips, wipe the nail then wash and scrub then buff my natural nail gently. I got my kit on Amazon: www.amazon.com/dp/B07T5CHLJZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_J6TbFbFASW8SR

you might not necessarily be doing something wrong, your nails could just come off easier than others. i know after a specific point mine will eventually just pop off as well, however i don’t ever keep them on long enough for them to do so.
