This was timely. I've only been shooting for three months, but my middle finger went numb yesterday. Luckily my coach did suggest a larger tab, and I can see now that my middle finger was getting whacked on every shot with my old cheap thin tab. Thanks for the confirmation!

My Joomong tab face lasted about 10 months of shooting... About 300 arrows a week... It didn't split but the wear is around the top and bottom edges of the face that contacts the string I don't think it effects my shooting but I feel better with a new face If your happy with the tab and how it feels in your hand especially if your an adult as you're less likely to grow then a replacement face $5-50 is a good option than a new tab... But we all like new toys 😁 Most archery shops will let you try them on, probably not let you shoot but it's the best way to check fitment

I also heard that the AAE finger tab's were really good, from Greg, at 3D Archery. So I guess that would be the one to start off using then!!! Good advice, thank you.

Great Video. I want to buy the AAE KSL Tab Brass and have a problem with choosing the right size. Do you know for which hand measures i can choose S, M or L? There are no specification...

Ok, I just measured my hand stretched out. I measured from the tip of my thumb across to the tip of my pinky finger. I got a length of 8.5" I also shoot a AAE Brass tab and I use the Large size tab. I am also 6' tall. So If you do the same measurement and get right around 8.5" I would say a go with the Large tab. I also measured my brothers hand he is about 6.3' tall and his hand is 10" from thumb to pinky he uses a Extra Large finger tab. So my best estimate would be if you hand is under 8" you should go with a Medium tab, if its around 8.5" go with a Large, or if it is 9"+ go with a Extra Large tab.

Don't trim your tab face immediately, let the tab face mould to your fingers and stretch/shrink otherwise over a few weeks you'll find it doesn't fully cover your fingers in places or the tab material has moved around your index finger as that piece is less wide

i was wondering the real use of the plat, it is for thumb rest or jaw rest in anchoring?
@shoreshotarchery

Usually jaw when anchoring, I have seen archers place their thumb under the shelf as well

There's no such thing as an intermediate or advanced finger tab... This suggests that you can buy performance which isn't true... Alot of archery is about form and personal preference. Such as ki bo bae shooting the basic looking AAE finger tab Psychologically it might make you shoot better having a $80 finger tab I went from a basic leather only tab to one with a finger spacer Fivics Joomong tab.. A fraction of the SAKER tab and exactly the same options... Yes it's cheaper made and less likely to stand the test of time but I've gone from all the options of little finger hook to shelf tab to taking it all off and letting my fingers be relaxed

For a follow-up I bought and have been shooting the KSL tab... It felt alot heavier in the hand (brass)... The straps help hold the tab more securely in the hand... It did show up that I was cupping the hand when drawing The elastic strap does stretch but still secure The cordovan face has lasted much longer than my joomong tab although I still use my old tab for bow strength practice

You don't need a bigger finger tab... You need adequate protection from the bow weight... Whether it's a thicker material or multiple layers... You loose the feel of the string and finger pressure but it protects your fingers better If you're getting pains in your fingers then the bow weight is too heavy for the tab material... I've got the callus on my fingers to prove it The answer is what most seem to miss or neglect to tell is better finger placement on the string and a thicker tab face You shouldn't be hooking or clawing at the string with your fingers.. That's just gonna mess up your release

Biz Khan i have the bad habit of clawing the string, when i try to have the string placed at my 2nd finger joint, it just feels so weird and my hand just slide to my outer finger joint. Any idea how to fix this?
@b12khx89
@b12khx89 6 жыл бұрын
Windy blower most choose to place it on or just after the outer finger joint as it feels most comfortable and moves less If your finding the string moves from the second joint to the outer joint then somewhere along your draw cycle you're releasing tension on your fingers and the string creeps forward to where it meets resistance (your outer joint) You have to keep tension on your fingers and minimal on your wrist and forearm (easier said than done but with practice it can be done) If you don't feel like your fingers are losing tension when you're at full draw the other point might be that you're not pulling the string back along the line of the arrow directly backwards and the elbow is off to one side or there's too much tension in your wrist changing the angle of your hand and string which I've found causes it to move Try and hold a bucket of water or heavy bag in your hand only using your fingers and let it hang down..... you'll notice that the only tension is on your fingers/slight forearm and that is how you should feel pulling the string back directly inline with the arrow You can find a place on your fingers where it feels most comfortable (first joint/second joint or somewhere in the middle) It can all feel weird to start with but if you practice it will become second nature

Windy blower no problem I place mine on the joint of my first finger and ring finger and just after on my middle finger as it is longer My ring finger slides off during draw and the bow weight is on my first and middle finger joints There's right or wrong way.. Just what you feel comfortable and can repeat with every shot Regardless of where you place the string you can never open your fingers quicker than the string sliding past which is why alot of string placement is said to place it on or after the first joint as the string has less to move across reducing the variations of string movement if you place it deeper
