Thank you Shelly! I had never heard that tip about the absorber cloth. I tried all the prestaining tips before and every time I cleaned my stamps they would turn red, even if that wasn't the color I had used. I'm definitely giving this a try.

There are many tips on this video. TFS, Nicole (Canada) Didn't know about "The Absorber" so I went to check it out on Amazon. One lady in particular used it for her stamps. She started w/5 stars and then reduced to 3. One thing she said was that it didn't go into the grooves and left pools of water (she didn't ring it) so she had to use something else. Does it happen with yours? The other thing was the noise (!) - I heard you using it, it's not so bad. And the third thing was the musty smell and now we all know how to avoid that! She ran it under water, put a few drops of liquid soap and stored it. Do you just add water and ring it? I have the black thing you showed at the beginning. I actually didn't know what it was so never used it. It came (still packed) with a bunch of stamps I wanted and the little bottle you showed. So the black thing is better for wood stamps? I use the little bottle by spraying my stamps directly with it and drying with a rag. I also use it to clean up my space. Works really well.

You're welcome. The video with The Absorber was before Stampin' Up! introduced the Simply Shammy. Same idea but much thicker. The thicker material gives you something to rub the stamp against to get in the nooks and crannies of detailed stamps. Much better product. I don't have pools of water, it's damp, not dripping wet. I'm using nothing but the Simply Shammy now for my clear photopolymer stamps. If I use a pigment ink and the stamp needs a little extra help, I spray Stampin' Mist onto the stamp and then clean on the Simply Shammy. The same I've always done with the clear or wood mount stamps. Unfortunately, my first demonstrator choose not to use the Stampin' Scrub for cleaning rubberstamps and used instead a towel. I followed her lead because she hadn't shown us the Stampin' Scrub. I found my stamped images were not full because of tiny fibers picked up from the towel. I highly recommend using the Stampin' Scrub you already own. It will also make your Stampin' Mist last longer.

@@stampingsmiles Thank you for the extra tips. You're right about the rag and I had switched to Bounty. After watching the video, I went to find where I put my Stampin' Scrub so I'm going to start using it. I put the Simply Shammy in my cart for SAB and I have just the case for it. Have a great day, Nicole

Love your tip Shelly! I was wondering if you’ve tried this same technique on your already stained stamps? One where did you purchase the “absorbent” cloth? Thank you so much for your video! 🙂

Thank you! I did. I pulled out some dark stained stamps that had been cleaned using The Absorber. Soaking in Stampin' Mist removed more ink on some. But not nearly as dramatic as on stamps just used with dark reds, pinks, browns and oranges.

Hi, Shelly! So, in my binge viewing of your videos, I came across this one! Some good tips, definitely! But now, w/SU’s SHAMMY available (which I don’t have) I’m wondering how well the Shammy cleans the photopolymer stamps n’ reduces staining~~~can you help me out on this one?? I do realize that there will still be “some staining” but I am interested in your answer~~the voice of experience! :-)). Look forward to your reply! Thanks a bunch! :-))

When using reds and browns especially, staining is going to happen. You can reduce it by wiping it immediately on your Simply Shammy. I've also heavily sprayed on Stampin' Mist and let it sit and get more off that way. That needs to be done immediately.
