FYI young ballers: every "strong side drive" from 1:15 to 1:45 is a travel on the first step. By rule (NFHS and FIBA), the ball must leave the player's hand BEFORE HIS PIVOT FOOT LEAVES THE FLOOR. Watch Lilliard and Lawson (and Coach!), their left foot (pivot) leaves before the ball. Bad fundamentals! You will get called for this violation (until you reach the NBA). Stick to recruiting, Coach Cal, it's what you do best.
@TheEricLin9 жыл бұрын
orangecucamonga Haha yeah in the NBA they see it as: dribble first before your pivot foot TOUCHES the ground for the step, while everyone else is still traditional so that's a travel. In addition, NBA also allows the gather step, which Harden utilizes.
@johncenaliker1239 жыл бұрын
+orangecucamonga dude that call is rarely actually never made in the US
@kevinwang27238 жыл бұрын
I know he's just showing how to do the move and that in slower motion than usual, but Lilliard traveled when he picked up his pivot foot before the ball hits the ground.

Good video with John Calipari Teaching and the NBA Point Guards.....Calipari Holds Weight lol that's why he was able to get the NBA guards to help demonstrate the video......and no they wasn't TRAVELS at all!!!! they were gather moves and drive steps to get to the basket Quick As Possible and score better

This is a nice video. How do you drive past someone who plays defense like Jordan (low and balanced) with a large wingspan? My buddy has seen me play for years now and even with my quick first step he can pick it or block it now. I usually have to switch to post up to reliably score.
@owenamadasu79559 жыл бұрын
Thats probably just cuz you been playing with him too long and your too predictable to him or you may have a a quick first step but your upper body and eyes are showing where you want to go
@lucidbarrier9 жыл бұрын
Owen Amadasu Definitely. We have been playing 1 on 1 for like 15 years. He always tells me to watch the middle of the chest when you are playing defense. I'm having to quickly transition to post up now in order to position myself to score. I can quick step him a few times but it is really getting difficult. I guess you always have to keep learning and adding stuff to the bag of tricks.
@VickyHK18 жыл бұрын
Omg I know exactly how you feel, I say practice a lot of what you do least and catch him off guard with it but keep the old ones so it keeps working
@lucidbarrier8 жыл бұрын
Cars Joe612 Yeah I have moves that he has never seen before, or that I have rarely used. I have to improvise a lot and try different things. My speed and finesse are something that catches him off guard every once and awhile. I still have my jumper and baby hook that he still can't touch. I have this up and under move, a finger roll, that pisses off everyone lol

guys plz dont call them travels, any baller would know when you blow buy a defender that's exactly what you do, as long as you dribble the same time you lift your pivot. Strictly speaking its a "travel" because ball hasn't left your hand as you lift pivot, but from mechanics wise, how the fk do you dribble first then lift pivot and STILL be explosive.

Hello everyone, can you give me some advice. When i play with my friends my talent in basketball shows, i feel very confident on my skills. I know that i can dominate and score... But when it's on a tournament/school 5v5 tournament, i feel very nervous that's why I can't show my skills.. i feel very afraid attacking the rim when someone is guarding me.. so i need some of your advice to remove that nervousness...any advice is appreciated 😢 (Sorry for my english)
