This is called Probono work. All these players are required to do charitable events for their organization, whether it be passing turkeys out on Thanksgiving, being a helper at some event, or being a mentor at a basketball camp. It helps the organization look good. This happens for many professions especially if you're a lawyer for a big firm, you are required to do Pro-bono work for people every year who can't afford your services.

I told you to play the layup at 0.25x speed and it really is not that time consuming, if you watch a few nba games you have a feel for when it's a travel at 1.0x speed.
