I am an old white woman...I have COVID hair. I decided not to cut my hair. Started in 2020 with #2 blade cut. Now it's 2024 and it's shoulder blade length. I use your Stainless Steel Shampoo & Conditioner... And now I know what to call the fuzzies at the end of my hair.

The last time I went to a salon for a cut or color or anything was in 2002. I have been cutting, treating, coloring, and styling my own hair since then. I used to be a hairstylist and I found that its easier to give myself what I want better than anyone else can 🙂

I do my hair at home, and I have been doing my hair, since I was 12 years old, and I am 69 years old now. I am a retired Cosmetologist. These days I mostly blow dry it, and braid it up because I have fine strands, and it is too hot in the south to press my natural hair. Her hair is beautiful. I love watching you do hair. It is relaxing to me.

Yay first! I've always done my hair at home since I mostly wear it curly/natural anyway. I used to go to the salon (rarely) for a silk press (like 1-2x/year). I've recently perfected the silk press on my own and as soon as i learn to trim my ends it's over for everybody lol. I'll of course be using your self trim tutorial when I do it! Also I have very dense, long type 4 hair and I kind of got the vibe that some stylist didnt really want to deal with it unfortunately

Another Sunday Super Sermon for haircare and life hacks. Thanks for the tips. I have been doing my hair way before the pandemic because finding a quality stylist has been a disappointing expensive struggle. I am still on the lookout for a place to go that will care for my hair when I have a special occasion, but until then I remain dedicated to doing things at home and getting the right equipment to get the results I want. I own a steamer, heating cap and use them on a regular. I used your video to trim my hair and don't bother with heat 95% of the of the year until I need a trim. Thanks for sharing your methods and your talent with us here on KZbin!

My childhood hairdresser basically forced me to learn how to take care of my own hair - she cut my damaged hair off without having a conversation!!! 😡😤😢I believe I was in the 10th grade, I was done after that and that was around 1989. So, I can French braid, two strand twist, straighten, curl and I clip my own ends! 👍🏽 However, that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t appreciate some skills that I trust like yours. 🧡👏🏽👏🏽

Chile those fairy knots got me scared to wear an Afro again😂😂 I thought if I started wearing an Afro my hair would be thriving but um no it broke off bad. I didn't even realize it until I straightened my hair one day. Every Sunday I would wash/flexi rod my hair so I'm pretty sure that method was just too much for my hair. But I loved the way my hair looked that way. I did braid outs, wash/go and just the old 70s Afro way with just water/cream/pick it out. Baby that was too much work for me and my hair seemed dryer. So I just went to get box braids because I'm too lazy/busy to be worried about hair lol. I feel myself with a good flat ironed/sleek style but it's too hot outside so that's a no go for me too.

I agree with your point about limiting heat. I blow dried my hair recently after not using heat since March. And I do notice a difference. I did a blow out to give myself a trim. I do my hair myself. Sometimes I want someone to do it when I want to try certain styles but I haven't found someone who I can trust to care about my hair when doing it. I started doing my hair fully when I began the transition back to natural hair in 2013

I did my own hair for almost 20 yrs. It grew to waist length and I decided to go to a salon in 2018 to have it pressed and professionally trimmed for a graduation. The stylist FRIED my hair, and I end up cutting off over 10" (myself) due to the damage. I now have a stylist that I go to once a year, to get my hair silk pressed and trimmed. She knows how to straighten natural hair. It took me almost 5 years to decide to try a stylist again.

So even though my sister’s a cosmetologist, I do my own hair majority of the time to avoid overwhelming her schedule. With the help of your video on the DIY trim at home and less heat, it really helped my hair retain its length, grow in a bit thicker and revert back to my tighter curl pattern(even though it can be annoying lol)

I have your curling iron, I love it but I left it in its pretty case. I used the Tymo heat brush.. I also have the Dragon Her Strands of hair scissors. I typically wear in 2 strand twist but my ends were thinning, wash day hair catastrophe cleaning up all the hair and crunchy?? Sooo I straightened and cut the mess out of it, my lengths are everywhere. I don't wear ponytails yet that area was really broken. I went hard with the scissors there too. I used lots of heat protectant to see the ends, I may let it revert or go get flex rods tomorrow. Not decided yet. I've learned a lot from you and will keep tuning in to see how else to be self-sufficient. Thanks for teaching us.❤

Hey! I gained significant hair length during the pandemic. I was FORCED to care for it 💯! And no I didn't want to! Because it was a struggle. To really hurt my feelings all of my new growth came in GRAY! I still have a small amount of color on the ends. It's been a task to find a consistent professional stylist. Either they over book, or they expect the client to just sit and wait, you know be soooo grateful, I mean now I pay 2 ½ times more for the same service. And wait twice as long. And still to answer your question, I go to the salon! It was every two weeks for the last 3 years, until recently now I just go once a month. It's rare if I wash it myself in between appointments. It's really hard for me. The whippings my mother gave me for doing anything to my hair has scared me. Plus having RA now (Rumathoid Arthritis) makes it painful for my wrist and hands. I can do wonders with a large Bobbie pin though. So yes it's the salon at least once a month, and I have never trimmed my ends. I truly love your baby, Deeper Than Hair!
