Another reason why I experienced this is because she would have me immediately open my eyes after she was done.. meaning the glue wasn't dried all the way. patience is key even when the lashes are done being applied. It should take at least 25 minutes or so to fan or dry after application

Awesome tips especially if you're getting your lash extensions for a big occasion like a wedding. I got mine done last year for the first time and I did develop an allergic reaction to the lash glue but it only lasted about 3 days. I got so scared cause I thought my eyes were going to be like that until I got my extensions off. I have very sensitive eyes so I was glad to see my eyes adjusted after just a few days

I recently had the same experience of getting my lash done the same tech for two years. This last time was my last time! I had zombie eye for a week! Pain and a lot of discomfort and gross stuff coming out of my eyes. I have grave’s disease and thyroid eye disease. My lashes are what brings me back to life! I just know my tech was close to home and she is a nice person but I think it’s the glue she uses. I thought I was going blind!!! So I went to my first lash tech where I began my lash journey and removed those lashes! I then did my research on ways to prevent the red eye situation. It would have me at times have to work from home the day after my lashes. So I knew I had to do something. I went to my eye surgeon and she said lashes are fine so I knew that I would have to do some preventative measures. Then I googled and found this video and my lash goddess!!! She is a eye doc and has the most beautiful lashes. I wrote all this to say I just came out of my lash appointment and I do exactly what she said the eye ointment I use nightly I used prior to my appointment and then some hydrating visible after and boom beautiful lashes and no red eyes!!!! Drop the mic day no more! I just want to thank you doc!!

Great video Dr. Rupa. I’m considering eyelashes but I have a propensity to get eye infections so I’m not sure. In the meantime, I’m having some success growing mine by putting castor oil on my eyelashes nightly. Growth serums give me purple shadows.

I got allergy eye drops, I used it last night, I woke up this morning and my lower eyelids was swollen and my lower eyes were still red. What do I do? The left one is okay tho. And when I blink it hurts. When she was adding the eye tap 1 felt like it was touching my eye and it started itching me she adjusted it tho.

Eyelash extensions grossss me out. I've never had them but I've had dry eye disease for several years and know the importance of lid hygiene.. and formaldehyde? That close to the eye? Seems dangerous.

@@DrRupaWong yes I did, she said she thinks I’m allergic to the eye tape, but I just confirmed from two other people and they had the same thing I had only mine is worse because my eyes are really sensitive, I had to get an eye ointment it really helped.

I got my eyelashes done, by the same artist, for over a year. Afterwards, my eyes would be a little red, but only for about an hour or so. After a year of getting them done regularly, all of a sudden my eyes were bright red for 24-48 hours. Then they would be fine. I tried one more time after that, and again they were bright red for 24-48 hrs. The artist didn't change the product or anything during the time period that I got them done. She thinks I might have suddenly developed an allergy, but what is your opinion? Thank you!

It is possible to develop allergies to things that you previously were not allergic to at all. Try switching the lash glue so that it doesn't contain carbon black

Most of the damage that I've seen in the scientific literature were temporary - conjunctivitis, dryness, etc.

Oh no. I'm sorry it hurts! Have you called the tech that did the lashes for you? There are a lot of risks associated with getting extensions.

@@DrRupaWong It's ok!!! Yes, she said it should go away, but it is day two and it still is red. I know there is certain eye drops you can use, that won't cause damage because of the glue. I'm going to try them out and see if my eye stops being red. Hopefully! If not, i may never get them again.
