Up north, bermuda grass is an invasive weed, and being that its perennial it makes it much more difficult to control while in season. In non crop areas, i use imazapyr to really get a kill at the roots, but in a healthy stand of cool season turf, the tools are minimized. Got any insights on products that are damaging to bermuda, even though its a desireable variety in the south? great video

I'm in New York. Currently I don't have a specific grass type, it's just weeds. :( I bought an electric lawn mower and weed wacker. I figured I would lawn mow everything, scalp it basically, then throw the store bought grass soil and grass seeds over it.

I'm in south Alabama and just planted Bermuda last spring and now have more weeds than Grass

Tis the nature of Bermuda. Unfortunately it generally requires a consistent weed control program. But if you do apply the right chemicals (I generally broadcast spray speedzone southern and prodiamine in early Oct and early Feb and spot treat with celsius and certainty-like products through the growing season). I do, however have zenith zoysia that I seeded between 2020 and 2022 (1.5 acres) and have a reasonably thick turf that has done pretty well in NE Mississippi the last couple years. But I know with heavier fertilizing and cutting 2x per week, Bermuda will take off and with a weed control process, you should have no problem having very few weeds and a thick Bermuda by the end of this next growing season (assuming you have Bermuda that took when you originally seeded it).

I am on year 3 with my Bermuda. Weeds I have every chapter of broad leaf weeds. I am told it's not a sprint, but a marathon. I feel like this is my 3rd quarter and next year will be the winning year. Just be patient .

I live in Northern Alabama. Where can I find high nitrogen (something above 18) slow release (i.e. Polyon or similar) fertilizer?

Jason, I am waiting on having 4 stumps removed and all of their roots removed before I can apply any pre-emergent/lime/fertilizer. I live in the NE Georgia area and have both a Bermuda & Zenith Zoysia Lawn. My front lawn is Bermuda and it has become thin in places due to the trees that I have had removed so thin that my yard is not in good enough shape to pull plugs. Any suggestions as to how I can get my yard to grow and thicken up?

I would see how the Bermuda improves over the course of this summer now that the trees are gone. Bermuda can make a huge Improvement in one summer if you remove the shade problem

It would work but I would wait until the grass starts turning green and we get warmer weather.
