I’m a salaried worker and I give them 8hrs. What I don’t finish I’ll work the next day. Every blue moon I may stay over a hr if I still have something I need to finish. I’m good on staying on top of everything but I refuse to give the company my full day when I have a family even though I work from home.

And this is how it’s done I love this for you! You really have to set these boundaries or these companies will take everything you have.

Great to have you back. I make an effort to take off 4 days a month when I have over 100 hours of PTO on Fridays. Heavy workload or not. Balance is important!

Thank you Chris I appreciate it! That’s great idea, creating your own 4 day work week throughout the month is genius! 🙌🏼

I used to be a claims adjuster for Progressive. I felt stuck, burned out and the pay was not worth it. Thankfully I was able to transition and get a role in legal and compliance. Those who are trying to get out of claims and not be claims manager - don’t give up and don’t listen to those who say your not qualified to do anything outside of claims.

I love this comment thank you! I’m happy to hear you got something less stressful. I may have to look into that department too.

I also can let 2-3 hours pass by without even getting up! It's such a bad habit- I need to get back into scheduling breaks from my desk- I'm not sure how I stopped doing that. Not planning too many things in the day is also a great tip as is setting boundaries ❤

Yes it’s crazy how you can get so caught up in your work that before you know it, the day is gone! But yes ma’am we are not machines I learned that the hard way so I only plan what I can realistically get done. ❤️

Good for you!! That time off is so needed because these jobs will take a lot out of you. I have an idea of the company you’re referring to with things changing in April and I’m so sorry, hang in there 🙌🏼

So true i agree with number 5 I work in social services, and i also work a commissions only insurance job, and i make sure to have at least 2 spa days a month, because I need to enjoy my actual life instead of just living to work.

Ooo if this video isn’t for me idk what is. I’m a claims adjuster for workers comp and I work 7:30-3:30 but really, I work almost 12 hour days (off the clock) because of how demanding my job is and self care is always at the bottom of my list and finding the balance is sooooo difficult. Tip #1 is spot on. I work hourly as well and so I have an alarm clock for all my scheduled breaks, even one to stretch and breathe for 5 minutes but I actually like the idea of taking a 45 min lunch (I only take 30min but that’s not enough time) to do prep work for the evening. That’s pretty good. I didn’t even think of that. Lol insurance: everything is important and definitely there is the pressure that everything is but I like to prioritize by mail for anything legal and medical authorizations and any benefits that need to be paid. Everything else, I can “put off” lol I have set boundaries now…sort of lol. I work more than I ever have when I was in the office but i start extremely early just to clear out things that are urgent, then my work my normal hours, I cruise a little through each claim that needs attention but I don’t have anything urgent hanging over me. Doing that early start also helps when random things come up that takes me off track. Right now, work has become my identity but I’m slowing loosing the grip of that idea because that’s not healthy. Workers comp also is soooo scary if you’re late on payments or client incurs a penalty because an adjuster miscalculated benefits and with the labor codes, anything can literally go left so it is a lot of pressure 💀

Girl! I’ve heard about how stressful workers comp claims can be and my heart goes out to you. Those timelines are what makes everything so stressful especially when your workload is out of control. It’s funny because I’ll take a 30min when I’m trying to log out a bit early but 45-1hr works most days so I can decompress and set up for my 5-9pm as they call it lol when kid and hubby are home. I like your tips though we work very similar. Starting early while it’s quiet is a great way to get a heard start before all the noise. Good luck to you and I hope you find some time for yourself this week ❤️

Hey Kela, question. I’m trying to break into adjusting and I have training coming next month with pilot in auto and property. How can I land daily claims work as a new adjuster?
@kelatrishaan6435
@kelatrishaan6435 10 күн бұрын
Hey good luck to you in your upcoming training. It’s not hard to land an adjusting job as long as there are roles available in your area, you just have to be diligent about applying. I’d recommend looking for entry and trainee roles though if you have no prior experience so you have a better chance.

@@kelatrishaan6435 for the daily claims desk adjusting, would you also recommend I become staff as well?
@kelatrishaan6435
@kelatrishaan6435 8 күн бұрын
@@JH-oo8dl I’ve only ever done staff adjusting so I’m biased in that aspect. I recommend getting into the industry however you can, whether that be independent or staff so you can gain experience.
