@@Soso-bi8nw Zoom cutting out is likely a wifi connection issue. As for the mic, you're saying they can't hear you? It might be in the settings or the way you have the mic positioned or the volume setting. Many factors could be possible.

Talking to the camera 🙁
@AshleyHagen4 жыл бұрын
@@faithtao9913 That just takes practice. I was no good at that at first either. Tape a little photo of someone next to it. Also, practice with doing IG stories or those short from videos that disappear. I think Snapchat helped me with that back in the day. What do you think makes it difficult?

Great tips here! For online music: you can teach without music and give them a link to a Spotify playlist they can play at home on their end if they music. :)
@AshleyHagen4 жыл бұрын
Yes! I figure this one is obvious but not always. Music questions are so common. I just don't use music at all. And I'm kinda happy about it. I really dislike making playlists. I've been using the same ones for 5+ years.

Ashley - Thank you so much for all you do to make teaching yoga more accessible for new teachers. I am teaching on zoom, and have learned so much from you. I'm not brave enough yet to share the "private" you tube videos from my zoom class recordings though. Hard for me to watch myself:) Though I don't dislike what I see. I now put two mats down - form a criss cross with them so that I can go facing camera or side view depending on asana.

Thanks for the tips. A couple times, in the beginning, I've drawn/written sequences down to prepare for a class... but I've found it hard to remember and awkward to look at my notes during practice, so I like to just go with the flow of the moment.

Hi Ashley ! again, thank you for your great videos ! I have learned a lot since I have tried to figure out my issues about making a video recording on Zoom look and sound good. I understand a few things now (oh yeh, I am so smart when it comes to the newest technology...:/........:/:/ but I am learning !) The thing with Zoom is that the Live is ok and sounds/looks good (enough) for everyone, but if you record it and look afterward, Zoom compresses SOOOO much the quality to reduce the memory space that the quality is then gone....So what I do is that I bought better mic (like the Rode you talked about, it seems that these are so far the best we can use for online teaching) and at the same time I use my camcorder to record in HD my class. Then I record only my sound during the Live, and then edit the thing : use my video and align my voice recording with it ! Still in the process but I am hopeful it will work better this way :) In the meantime, I ll keep watching and absorbing your great advices !!
@AshleyHagen4 жыл бұрын
Yes! You can totally do it this way. It just involves a little bit of editing in post-filming. I use Zoom on my Mac computer for live classes, and I just realized that I can actually run Quicktime on my Mac to record at the same time. So I am recording using Quicktime, while I am also on Zoom. Both are set to using my webcam and the Rode microphone. My latest "power yoga" class was done this way. I scrapped the Zoom video. I still recorded on Zoom as back-up. But now I don't need it.

Hello Ashley, your videos are of such a great help. At the moment I am teaching somewhere else and I am not sure, if the internet connection is good enough. I read somewhere, that for Online classes via Zoom I will need a minimim download speed of 10 mbps and a minimum upload speed of 1 mbps. I just ran the speed test and I have about 7 mbps download and 6 mbps upload. Do you think that this will be sufficient? Thank you so much. Love Ute

Hi Ashley, I have a question or two 😊. First I wanted to upload my video via my iPhone but I was not able to find the upload button? Is it limited monthly? Second, I had an interview today ... now the file is an mp4 and it didn't let me upload it on KZbin 🙈. Thank you for your suggestions 👍🏻💖🙏🏼
@AshleyHagen4 жыл бұрын
On the iPhone app, the button to upload is the PLUS sign (+) with a circle around it at the bottom middle of your screen. As far as your interview not being able to be uploaded, I'm not sure about that. MP4 files are usually fine. MP4s are movie files. Audio files (MP3) can't be uploaded directly to youtube.

Hi Ashely My name is Allan. Thank you so much for sharing. I am just beginning the journey of teaching yoga online and this was very helpful. My site, Five Branches Yoga, is not set up yet or I would invite you there. I noticed you mentioned disclaimers. Is that something that is important for youtube videos? I ask because I haven't seen this on other videos, unless its there and I just didn't notice it. Thanks again.
@AshleyHagen2 жыл бұрын
Look at the bottom in the description of most well-known youtube yoga teachers. They usually have disclaimers. If there is not a disclaimer, it's a missing component and the teacher likely does not realize it. It's always good to have a disclaimer on public videos. It's an easy thing to copy/paste and implement, so I believe that it is important. The more legal protection, the better. Even if it's just a little paragraph disclaimer.

hi ashley love your tips for mew yoga teachers I have a question when your recording a video are you doing it on your laptop and then after the recording do you save it on to your computer ? how do you know if your computer has enough space to do like a 60 min flow ?
@AshleyHagen4 жыл бұрын
I save all of my videos to an external hard drive. My laptop definitely does not have enough space on the desktop to save them all. It also reminds me that my disk is full... all the time. Also, I usually record while doing a live-stream on Zoom, and Zoom quality is a lot lower and so the file sizes aren't too big. I drag them to my hard drive after every couple of classes. When I film directly on my computer, the file is saved right away externally. I have a 1 TB hard drive. I wouldn't recommend anything smaller.
@carolynsyoga4 жыл бұрын
@@AshleyHagen thank you so much where do I find a external hard drive should it be on my computer already ? And you just set up a zoom meeting and record yourself
@AshleyHagen4 жыл бұрын
@@carolynsyoga An external hard drive is something you plug into your computer through USB. Here is a link to one: amzn.to/3iT2oVH Also, get a case to keep it safe. My classes are on my schedule as live-streaming through Zoom, so I have people attending as I teach. I also record the class to repurpose for youtube or my membership. If no one is on Zoom, I will use Quicktime on my Mac to record so the quality is better. I export it as 720p so it's not quite so large, but the file is about 3-4x bigger than a Zoom recording.

@@carolynsyoga You can start a youtube channel without an audience. It is great practice. Just start with what you have and what you know. You'll get better as time goes on.
