Iv spent time trying to build an enduro dh bike. 11 gear with decent ratio. Lightweight components. And best of all....super lightweight marzocchi 888 world cup 35mm so its not super heavy up front. Soon switching to a 190mm air shock with travel adjustment and a dropper post. So far its been really good.

I would like to ask.... I have watched several videos and parts demo videos.....still want to ask....for a down hill bicycle, if not doing aggressive things (I am not that kind of level and never trained on MTB related skills), is it still better to use DH specific fork like the type you have? Or it is just fine to use the conventional design? Also, there is inverted suspension fork in the market and I checked some online articles about why that kind of design. Since inverted suspension gives better sturdiness, why people still prefer upside-right forks? I have some experience in bicycle building and I think I do like doing it....I recently just got a new frame that is old stock (2008 felt Redemption One). I am debating to use the DH specific type or the regular type suspension fork.....any advice?
@xx-----------xx8734 жыл бұрын
I’ll answer. If you are pedalling at all, this kind of bike is utter crap. This is because the 200mm of suspension will bob up and down when pedalling. These forks get their strength from a dual crown, where they clamp onto the frame from both sides. Manitou create reverse arch forks, no-one else does it. I’d reccomend a short travel bike, maybe 150/130 if you are doing any sort of pedalling, as the suspension would move considerably less.

Ha 5'4 on a medium, I'm just under 6 foot and ride mediums. Good to know my shorter friends can ride my back up if they ever want to give mtb'ing a try. I just built a 2004ish Brodie Holeshot with 160mm 2009 Fox Van 36's, 8 inch Hayes 9's, Mavic 729's, and a XT/LX 9 spd drivetrain... the only thing not era specific is the tires I threw on a couple Hanz Dampf's but would love to find a pair of 2.7 Nokain Gazza's. Thats the saddest loss to mountian bikes... no more Gazza's :( The 2004 Holeshot was before it's time for sure, same angles as most enduro style bikes these days just on 26 inch wheels
