I happen to have 2 of those Hot Wheels Sto & Go, but the only locomotives I got are the Santa Fe diesels (One I turned into a Norfolk Southern Diesel), Chesapeake and Ohio Diesel, Burlington Northern, and Amtrak

I had the Hot Wheels "Power Express" train set at one point, it was a pretty neat set too!

I’ve seen those show up a few times while searching for these ones. From what I can tell nothing between them is compatible which is a shame.

We’re thoroughly enjoying them! And he’s actually pretty gentle with them. Sometimes he’ll bump a track or break a tab but I can always fix em.

I wish I had more of these besides my 2 GP40s I found at a Flea Market for $10, they still need track and rolling stock, but when o save up my money, I can probably buy some rolling stock or a lot of tracks and trains, but only time will tell, but “time doesn’t want to speak” so we don’t know until we get to that point I guess, though my mom is hiring me to help her look on eBay for things to sell at Secondhand Stores, and I will get paid, so I can get money and use it to buy items once I get an account of course

It really depends on the condition. The collectable NIB examples are quite expensive, but if you’re looking for ones to run for fun like we are, you can find em anywhere between $10-$20 per car or train. That’s how we’ve come across most of ours. A few of the sets came with trains, too so finding bundles of those have helped. Just take a scroll through eBay for “Hot Wheels Railroad”

On the bottom of the freight set, does the bottom come off for storage?

It doesn’t for the freight set. It does for the Super Rails set

Do you have any tips on replacing the wheels?

You’ll need to harvest parts from another engine/freight car to do it, but it is possible. Just kind of tricky / tedious. I did it one with the Chessie Diesel we have and it worked out. Easier to show in a video than try to explain so maybe that’s my next one

If I ever end up with an engine from this series, I would probably find some way to motorize it, it's just too model-esqe not to try.

Honestly with how easily these can derail, it’s probably best to push em along. Powering them would probably just increase the derailments and frustration 😂
