I apologize for the noob question, but I had my lines go into my prop during a bad takeoff. I cut the engine immediately, but the lines still broke the ring that guards the prop and they were pulling the weight-shift arm up and back. I keep thinking about how that would go down if it had happened in the air. Granted, the lines are under more tension. But if I have a stall/surge and the lines manage to go into the prop, my arm is trapped, and my wing is a tablecloth. Any way to mount this in the center? Thanks!

Thanks for posting a question! So sorry to hear about the lines going into the prop. That can be really frustrating. Rest assured - it happens to the best of us! We're just glad you are ok. I've seen people mount their reserve chutes in various locations (including the center between the J-bars) but the side is probably the most common. When you have time, give our office a call. Sure! Especially if it's a Quad (where weight isn't an issue and there's more room to mount one). We've seen quite a few competition Pilots who carry two reserves - even with Foot-Launch units. Good question! We're still trying to figure that out. (I'm totally joking with you)... The Reserves have a handle on them. You simply pull up on the handle, and chuck the reserve to the side of you. It will automatically deploy. They are like the airbag in a car... You will probably never use it, but it can save a life if it's needed. We also recommend flotation devices if you ever fly over water. Safety is extremely important to us. Thanks for the comment! Deploying two at the same time could cause them to become tangled up - posing a safety concern. Some people do fly with two reserves in case one fails, but I've never heard of that happening. Weight is of concern to most Pilots (unless they fly with wheels), so it's the most common to have only one reserve. I did want to get into the sport but I’ve seen sooooooo many crashes and deaths from paramotoring that I’m thinking not!!!!!! Most of them was great pilots and there chute just collapsed and the hit the ground! Maybe someday they will make it safer and I’ll be up for it

There are actually sooooo few crashes considering how many people are flying! You must have been talking to someone who uses fear to promote their equipment. There is a Manufacturer who literally tells people that "they will die if they buy another brand." It blew my mind when I first heard that, but a couple of people are just like that in this sport. Also, if you have searched for "crash videos," KZbin will continue to recommend videos like that in your feed. For every crash video, there are probably 1000 flying videos. For every Pilot who crashes, there are thousands who don't. We sell hundreds and hundreds of Paramotors each year. I've been working in the Industry for almost a decade now and have NEVER seen a crash that couldn't be explained. People don't just fall out of the sky... It's ALWAYS things like: Pilot error, not having the proper training (or self-taught pilots), not taking good care of the equipment, flying a glider that isn't the right size or skill level, flying in conditions that people know they shouldn't, flying over water without a flotation device, flying while intoxicated, not surveying an area for obstructions (like power lines) before flying, and ESPECIALLY Pilots who get into acro or stunt flying. Most of these things are all thoroughly covered in a good training course. The sport was intended for low and slow exploration. If you have good instruction and take good care of your gear, this is literally the safest form of flight in the world. The FAA has even stated that. You are basically "flying a parachute, with a backup parachute, and a flotation device." If it was extremely dangerous, they would require a Pilots License. Drones have caused more accidents than Paramotors - thus why they even need a license. Please keep researching the sport and don't waste time watching crashes. If you dig into any incident with a Paramotor, you will eventually find that the accident was easily preventable. Of course there is a risk to ANY type of flight, but the risks of Powered Paragliding are less than any other form of aviation. Technology has also gotten so much better and products are very refined in this sport now. I'm a cautious person, so 20 years ago I wouldn't have done it. With the modern technology and safety features companies like BlackHawk have, I'd fly all day long if I could! Right lol! Tiny zip ties are what we use. They need to be small so they break away if deployed. Velcro may work, but if it doesn't release, that could be really bad. Zip ties are so easy to purchase, replace, and they've been tested to work perfectly for this kind of use.
