This video is a continuation of one of my safety shot tutorials. You’ll learn what NOT to do, when executing a safety shot. You’ll also be shown two powerful lock-up safety scenarios.

On the shot around the 9 minute mark, a possible way to avoid the 3rd foul might've been to shoot into the bottom short rail at an angle to come off the long rail and hit the 1. Problem is, you don't have the entire 1 to hit.

@@jarrets2292 Hi Jarret, thank you and let’s get to work! 😉 Btw, if you’re still with Jim Larue, he can teach you a lot about strategy. This said, playing safe is just simply playing position. Think of bank safes, roll-up safes and soft spin shots that take you gently up against a blocker ball.

Hi Ron, another great video. I just watched Appleton's latest video on 2 rail kicking. I'm surprised you didn't at least check the angles by counting the diamonds to see if it was even a possible option. We can't see everything from our tv screens. It's never like being at the table for us, but do you think using the system he talks about would have worked? Basically, did you have a clear shot at the spot on the short rail that system would have indicated? Just wondering....

Thanks Phil. I’ve never have used math for any diamond kicking system to be honest. I know a couple of systems, but it takes me too long to calculate them during a game. It sort of disrupts my flow within the game. Also, I’ve had very good success kicking shots either with one or two cushions. I was once told by a Pool pro friend, to chase (using two rails) a ball as I move around the table. He said to do this until I begin to feel the angles. I took his advice which really helped my kicking game. Thanks again 👍🏻

Thanks for your informative videos. At 9:05 I would probably chose the short rail where you place the camera. Although it is not an easy bridge, it's giving us a better chance to hit the 1 ball.

Getting others on the 3 foul rule doesn’t happen offer but when you win a game that way if is a real confident buster and at the same time if you are the one that gets 3 fouled Hurts!

Right Tom. I’ve never had it happen in my young three year career and I’ve never tried putting an opponent on three either 🤷🏻‍♂️

At min 7.46 might you have been able to shoot the cue 2 rails with left English from the short rail near the right corner to the side rail between the pockets then hit the one?

One suggestion on safeties. I understand you are trying to nestle in by the 8 but in general if you leave the target ball out in the middle part of the table its a lot harder to hit than whe next to a rail. In this case you could hit the rail a little short like you said and still come of rail and get a good safety. If you are that far off out away from rail..... gonna miss

Frozen to the 8 is a better shot for me bc the 7 blocks the 2 rail kick more.

Hello Ron, my opinon to your shots and safties. At 3.55 - you can also go the 3-band route, above the 2-ball, since the 1-ball is almost perfectly aligned with the bottom pocket. The disadvantage would be that you then have no position on the 2-ball.

On that last shot. I would have from diamond on the head rail next to the pocket about six diamonds, using the pocket as 1. Im estimating being that im not at the table. But count over and hit at 6, between the middle diamond and the diamond near the cueball, going two rails for that diamond near the corner pocket, and towards the one ball. Hopefully going by the nine. Three rails to the one. That's what I think I would have tried. I'm going to set it up and try it.

@@ronthepoolstudent it took some time, but getting it to hit right before the side pocket, it came off the end to just clip the one. Many tries going just by the one, a couple in the side pocket, and one in the corner. It would be a hail Mary shot at best 😆

I don’t have a lot of experience in billiards (3 years or so) and I never thought to make a “willful fault”. Thanks for the idea; it will surely help, in some situations !

Thank you Mario. It’s actually a big part of the game. Also, there’s an art to it to be able to hide the cue ball to put your opponent in safety jail.

On the last shot you can use the counting system that I’m going to try to hit the 1 ball. I’ll video it and share it if it works. Do you have an email because I’d like to send it to you.

@12 minute mark... Try Jimmy Reid (6th diamond system)... Off the same rail that you tried your Z bank shot... Only aiming closer to the corner like you were aiming cross corner bank but adding two tips of right in this case....
