You haven't mentioned the fact that in real life the most common type of dwarfism is inherited in a dominant manner, which means that if Matthew McConaughey doesn't have dwarfism, he can't pass the gene to his children, because he doesn't have it. On top of that, it maybe becomes understandable that Matthew McConaughey's character is a knobhead once you realize no one in his family was able to carry him before he was old enough to walk. That must have been a pretty sad childhood.
@Terminalsanity5 жыл бұрын
Yeah its kind of weird how you have a film that ostensibly is trying inform its audience about dwarfism even acknowledging that parents with dwarfism can have a 1 in 4 chance of having a child without the condition, just kind of forgets how the genetics would work with McConaughey's character for the sake of ham fisted melodrama. Basically his child would of had to have just happened to have the gene mutation for dwarfism occur at conception which would be the exact same 1 in a million chance every other normal size parent has of happening to their kid. There are no dreadlocks in this movie. Patricia Arquette has Fulani braids, and Peter Dinklage just has a full head of three strand braids. Braids and dreadlocks are totally different things.

If Gary Old man played the French midget. That would have been classic. They need to remake this movie. With the exact same cast except with Gary's and Peter's roles switched

What's funny to me is Peter Dinklage supported Gary Oldman playing the lead dwarf. It makes sense as Peter has always been all about acting abilities over playing to percieved type (he had to fight tooth and nail to not be cast in demeaning elf or dwarf roles and given actual characters to play). But it's so unconvincing that no amount of practical and digital effects can replace what a real dwarf actor can do.

i actually caught this movie halfway through on cable somewhere several years ago and was completely confused by it. before catching it again on cable so i could watch the whole thing. and honestly all i could think through the whole film was "why is Gary playing a dwarf when their are all these actual dwarf actors in the film?"

When I first saw the title of the video I was like why did they not get Peter Dinklage for the role as the main character. Then I saw that he was in the movie....so why was he not the main character???

It's amazing how Gary talks about his most "regretful" role is Zorg in 5th Element, maybe he's trying to forget this LOL. Good thing they didn't invite Peter's character to the Jewish wedding, you don't wanna hear what he'd likely have to say about Israel.

Ok but the baby could literally not have had dwarfism. Achondroplasia, the condition that causes dwarfism is autosomal dominant. That means that if the gene is present, you have the condition. If both parents don’t have dwarfism they cannot birth a child with dwarfism as otherwise the condition would have presented in one of them as one of them would have had to have the gene in order to pass it on to the kid.

Wrong. You can have a child with dwarfism, but the chances are very low, 1:25000. I say this as a father of kid with achondroplasia (most common form og dwarfism).

Let’s be honest. If this movie was a fake trailer or a parody of bad movies/trailers like in Tropic Thunder, it could’ve been solid. But when it’s meant to be taken seriously, that just makes things worse. Seriously who thought this movie and how it turned out was in any way a good idea? Also why?

7:15 That guy's Santiago Segura, a Spanish actor and director (stars in his own comedic movie series "Torrente"). He's best friends with Guillermo del Toro and has had cameos in almost all his movies.
@Mikels20006 жыл бұрын
That "Lynch" from Kane and Lynch is Santiago Segura, one of the highest paid role actors and screenwriters in Spain. He appears in most Guillermo del Toro movies and he is a huge hypocrite since he is mostly offered the best voice acting roles, nails them then says he hates the job. I've seen him doing worse. Really.

Literally you have Peter Dinklage right there and he isn't cast as the main one? Weird decision. Also, it's not like they had a shortage of littles, as made obvious from the party scenes. They could have auditioned or hired any one of them, as well. But no. Let's just have a regular sized person with very regular proportions use terribly unconvincing stuffed legs and walk around on his knees.
