Not sure if you have done rune mysteries yet on this account, but that quest is not a prerequisite to runecrafting skill. The quest just unlocks access to the rune essence mine. Unless you had some other goal in mind where the quest itself is needed to be completed, then I believe you should not have to do this quest. I feel like I am going to like this series though

I wanted to be sure I had access to essence mine in case Jagex decides to add one or a teleporting wizard to the region 🤘🏼 I will have future access to the Death Alter and would be ecstatic should Jagex do the former! 😄
