Looks like a great idea. A narrower moving target that requires you to aim and react. If you hang it high enough you can also practice uppercuts- something you can't do with a heavy bag.

Maybe but a heacybag is better for overall strength and power will the tire punching bags increase punching lower
@Lich___5 ай бұрын
@@levarwilkuams6342 There are other ways to increase punching power. Earnie Shavers - who a lot of legendary boxers agreed hit like a truck - swore by chopping wood and hammering a tire.

there is another option I use. I have two tires, one on top of the other, oriented as you see in the video, that I connected with a 3/8th inch bolt. I have the bottom tire "secured" with bungie cords that I have attached to HEAVY bases on either side. This way there is resistance as well as some movement. I went this route because it also works dang well for my Kali stick, knife and sword work, so I get a twofer, empty hand and weapons in one training platform. It is also cool if your styles, like mine, involve low kicks. The only thing it isn't great for is apply knee strikes in close.

I never even once thought of this, seen ton of old tires sitting around. Thank you, been thinking about buying a bag but no need now.

pretty cool, I think its a good idea even if you do have a heavy bag! I'm going to try and rig something up here.
@rbt4rbt12 жыл бұрын
Great idea! It's cheap yet affective. It also forces you to concentrat where you're hitting, most people don't do that. Plus, it gives you something to duck and weave. I made some robot punching arms to put on my Bob that keeps me moving having to block and move to avoid getting hit. So yes, I really like your idea here.

Wow. Not sure its better to hang it horizontally or vertically. I see benefits from both ways. Thank you for sharing this! After covid gym closing even though I did road work, shadow boxing and jump roping I still lost some stamin by not hitting a heavy bag. Hope this will do the trick.
@Evanmander12 жыл бұрын
Nice! I work out on a target made of a 2by4 post with 3 tires mounted on it vertically. I love the feed back the sound gives, and I leave it outside in rain and snow. 3 years of beating on it with friends and I can't make it die. I plan to make my next one like yours, hanging, but I want to interlock 3 or 4 tires for multiple heights. Oh, and I'm training weapons mostly, but I have used it a bit for body techniques as well. Thnaks for posting.

BEST HOME MADE PUNCHING BAG
@gybx40945 жыл бұрын
He isn't saying this is for boxing professionals. He's just showing a realistic option to an expensive heavy bag for exercise. This would be a great idea for country folks where a tree limb could be used to hang a tire. When the tire spins it helps with eye-hand coordination for accuracy. You armchair critics should get off your asses and actually do something.

@NicoCauilan, I've been meaing to do this for a while now, but have a 2 year old and 2 jobs ATM, so I'm a little short on time. Explained briefly here, you'll need a virticle 2by4 on which to stick 3 tires, through the treads. I cut the tires using a sawzall and make the hole longer but slimmer so thei rubber grabs. The base is again, 2by4s, cut half way in to an X-pattern at the bottom, with 45 degree suports on all four sides to the main post. Again, I would like to get this video up soon!

Hey, your punching is pretty decent, just a few tips: your footwork needs improvment, how I picture good footwork is basically staying in the same stance no matter where I move. You're also using too much of your upperbody in your bobbing and weaving, try squat down more and you'll get lower, easier, with a sight of your opponent, and IDK how to help you on this part, but try stay more in balance, one foot shouldn't go across another in fighting. Keep up the good work man!

This moves more like a person and the shapes of the tire makes you place your punches better
@almablack2212 жыл бұрын
tried that. the gloves wear out 10 times faster than on a bag. so its one tire VS a few pairs of gloves or one bag and one pair of gloves for the same cash. it really is a cool idea, but only for a short period.
@DoomRater6 жыл бұрын
What tire were you punching so bad your gloves gave out? If anything the tire should be MORE forgiving towards gloves, not less. Did you power wash them first and make sure you didn't get studded tires?

Just today I hurted my wrist by hitting it..... I was not wearing any hand wraps 😭
@almablack2212 жыл бұрын
@freerunner322 that would be great for knuckle conditioning for beginners. but if you dont need bone conditioning, its always better to have the gloves on cause of their weight,. its not the same if your punching with bare fists or with the gloves on. if you get used to punch without the gloves on, it would be pretty strange to put them on in the ring... you would loose accuracy and mostly, the mental aproach to it would mindf* you.
