I'm a rural route mail carrier and I use these all the time. we have a lot of flats from running with the right wheels off the pavement running through all sorts of crap. I have one or two tires take on damage every week or two. Its not uncommon for my tires to have four or five plugs in them at any given time, even though the tires are in good shape with a fourth inch of tread. It wouldnt be feasible to pay ten or more dollars for a patch every time as much damage as I get. that could run in the hundreds or maybe even a thousand or more per year. occasionally a plug will lose its seal and have to be redone, but most hold up. I carry two spares, a power inverter so I can use the large home air compressor I carry. I carry two jacks, the tire plug kit, multiple blocks of wood which I have used to get unstuck when in mud. the school of hardknocks will teach you well. its often easier to air up and plug on the road rather than go to the hassle of changing a tire. I have also had more than one flat in one day. sometimes if you rip a sidewall the plug kit wont work, which is why I carry two spares. I also keep extra tires on rims at home for when I dont feel like fooling with fixing one. I just roll the bad one into the back and pull another out. then I will have a spell where I fix three or four at once on a day off. they talk about the baja 1000 race in the desert, the mail route is the real proving ground. I run my own baja 1000 every three weeks, putting over 300 miles per week in on the job. I always said that is the test that vehicle makers should put their products through to see how well they will hold up. I guess my most unbelievable story would be the one summer when my truck got so hot the engine fan and radiator melted. everything is plastic like now. maybe when I retire I can put my truck up for sale and describe it as "gently used". never buy a vehicle that was used to carry mail, you will get screwed.

another tip, carry a cordless drill with a bit in it slightly smaller than the tire plug. the reamer tool is too small and you will have a hard time getting the plug into that little hole. a quick drill in the spot and the plug will go in much easier. a spray bottle with soapy water to find small leaks too.

I appreciate that someone might have used a screwdriver to put the screw there in the first place.

You forget somting I see that your tire have air in it . That is the reason its easy to de plug . If your tire do not have air in it. Pump it first up than thake out the nail and do than what the video tell you to do. If the do not have air in side . It will not go smoothly en easy in and out the tools u use.

@@knobsdialsandbuttons Stuck out in the back country, I will plug side wall or tread edge with oneor several plugs, as needed, to get back to a shop. But, such would not be a permanent repair as it would be in the tread.

This practice is Not safe , not British standards for approx forty years. You Don’t know what internal damage has happened without removing the tyre . Safety first avoid .
