Just installed one of these in my car: starts like a dream, and it’s fairly easy to mount since it’s so small

Glad to hear it’s working well for you, thanks for watching!!

Failure is just part of racing lol. What you want to look at is the Mile jolts that is what makes the magic in the combustion chamber. MSD 6 are only good for up to 9 to 1 compression they basically give out after that. They also demanded A battery ground and a good power source. We use a pro 600 on our race car. You can ramp the millivolts up with the boost. It has let us add 30% more fuel to our program which makes way more power. We are currently running 40 pounds of boost and have no ignition problems at the moment.This is a great unit for the street it has more millivolts than the MSD 6 if you read the text sheet; and like you said it is a nice savings to boot

That is definitely a serious box that you have, but I can see why you would need such a thing with 40 pounds of boost😂.

I recently picked up one of these boxes. With regards to the shift light wire you want to run it through a relay or the shift light may stay on all the time as mine did . Ultra 6AL plus is full of bugs, people have not been happy with it. MSD has not released anything of value since 2010 Power Grid.

Awesome!!! Man I might have to grab me one of those Boxes!

Time will tell, but I’m pretty happy so far.

Well, I'll be getting one.

pertronix manual says only plug their distributors into their digital hp black ignition box. ok just to attach like stock setup to the coil? want to get an hp box but have to wait a month or so. got the vehicle with just pertronix distributor and flamethrower coil... and it runs.

I currently have a 7AL because I run Methanol fuel and a 8-71 supercharger. Will it fire my fuel at these cylinder pressures at approximately 20:1 compression?

That is getting into territory that I don’t have much experience with😀. In the higher level stuff, MSD offers features that most of the competitors don’t…they kinda have the market cornered. I have to assume at elite levels MSD may be the correct choice, but for the average street/strip car this would be plenty. Obviously the car that I installed this on is a lightweight, but I wouldn’t hesitate to use it on something much more serious. Do your setup require multiple timing retards?

The ultra 6al plus just blew this thing out of the water

Thanks for watching, I went and read up on that, it certainly has a lot of features. Is that the first ignition box with a phone app? 😂
@saltracer18 ай бұрын
@@redfoxgarage9660 looks like Progression Ignition has a phone app too and from what I see has data recording. This for the distributor (I think)

So it is NOT multi spark.

Just went and bought one for my 78 f150. Everything still holding up good?
@redfoxgarage96606 ай бұрын
Yeah, it’s still working well. I would definitely still recommend it.

The failure rate is very high these days I’m guessing the Chinese outsourcing on the lower tier products is the reason. Basically everyone in the mustang community knows if you have an MSD part it will likely fail in the first 12 months.
@redfoxgarage9660 Жыл бұрын
I hear you, I’ve been through a few MSD boxes through the years. I just think it’s strange that everybody eventually has issues with their products, but we immediately buy another one. I guess there aren’t many alternatives, especially on the higher end stuff with more features.

I disagree these old school 6AL boxes are great I got 10 solid years out of mine the problem guys have is not grounding the box correctly always run ground directly from battery not fire wall always use 12 guage for ground and hot wire, and have a good quality battery that’s will last for years

My criticism of MSD is a bit tongue in cheek. My other car still has one on it, and it will stay on it until it ceases to function. I think it’s probably about 5 years old. Truth is they all fail at some point and bad wiring can certainly contribute to it. Thanks for watching!!
@hotrodray6802Күн бұрын
Stuff made 10 yrs ago was still probably good components.

Hows it going after a year? Im thinking of getting one as I need a start retard and MSD just keeps failing. Im currently using an old Crane H6i but cant find a suitable start retard BTW, is this thing sealed or potted, waterproof. All the new MSD stuff ISNT.
