Nisse, good luck with your deployment & safe return brother. ✊🏼

The transfer ratios are 1.6:1 (very early 90/110 and military only), 1.4:1 (standard Defender), 1.2:1 (standard Disco/RRC) and 1.003:1 (early 3 speed RRC). I'd be careful about putting the 1.003 in the Disco, as even with a VNT and remap the Td5 will labour quite a bit and you'll pretty much lose any acceleration gains you made from the remapping and intercooler etc. Especially if you are running larger than standard tyres!

From watching your videos i bought a nanocom and a stage 2 map from stormtuning and i can't believe how my 110 goes now. A steep hill next to me i used to get a run up from other side in 4th and would soon have to change down to 3rd. Now i can standing start at bottom and go all through the gears to 5th and it pulls up in that. Amazing. Sounds cool too.

Based on what you have said there; you are actively and drastically affecting both the reliability and longevity of your engine. The extra engine stress in that scenario will be massive and drivetrain loading significantly higher generally. I will also add briefly that even if you want massive power, despite the potential reliability cost, StormTuning should still be avoided. I’m not saying any of this to be a dick, I just believe you deserve to be aware - there is a lot of misinformation about.

@@willc5911 Hi Will, I read and appreciated your comment and intention to raise awareness without being critical. Could you please expand on this further for the simple folk such as myself out here. Also any tips or suggestions you have in regards to increasing reliability and longevity of the td5. Thanks, Adam

@@willc5911 Actually, the td5 is a solid engine that handles tuning very well.

235/70/16 compared to 265/75/16 fitted on 16x7 or 16x8 rims is an extra 10% difference in gearing.

So StormTuning put a map on a vehicle, despite it missing a component needed for the map? Sounds about right. (Re comment from original video)

Reads pressurised air pressure and temp adj fueling accordingly so should only increase power once bigger cooler is fitted say should because all these sensors are made in Micky mouse land and often give odd outputs

Considering Storm Tuning is not local (based in another country no less) it made sense to setup the map like that from the beginning as we knew we'd be fitting a larger intercooler in the near future. Now that we have a Nanocom however we'll be able to update the map ourselves as and when we need.

@TirsbaekTV Overwriting engine management software is a rather fine science. People that are under educated into what they're doing are ruining engines, in some cases dangerously so. For us in the Land Rover world, that person is Daniel from storm tuning. Daniel simply flashes the same stock maps (which he did not create) to everyone. I have personally witnessed him ragging out an ECM like an ape. I have been told many first hand accounts of his work and how he has ripped people off. There is hard proof of this and other malpractice. Many others will tell you the same. I am not affiliated with any tuning company nor have I used them. My interest is purely in Land Rovers and the community.

@@willc5911 Hey again Will, interesting comment. I am considering buying the Storm Tuning remap as I dont know much about ECUs and the video these legends uploaded as well as a few others I have watched all seem to highly rate them. Do you have alternate ECUs i could consider and compare? Plus any links on understanding the ECU would be much appreciated. Thanks, Adam

out of curiosity, how much have the EGTs dropped? I have a remap with around 20 PSI of boost (03 model so bigger IC than 99-01). the car runs great up to 100 km, anything after 100 or going up big hills the TD5 wants to do more but the EGTs easily climb past 700. Im not actually after any more power, just trying to drop the EGTs. Also have you tried an aftermarket Bosch MAP? I heard it allows for more than 20 PSI

Any chance of discussing LR models outside UK/EU or resources to research various models? I reside in Japan and the Disc 1/2 models sold locally always result in awkward conversation when I am ordering parts from the UK. Many of the conversation result in disbelief and frustration. ( E.x., TDI was an option after 98 here, the Honda/LR Crossroad mashup, County models etc....) Thank you!
