The temple is referred to as the "Vaikuntha on Earth" (Vaikuntha is the abode of Lord Vishnu) due to the belief that visiting the temple brings devotees closer to moksha (salvation).
3. Architecture
The temple is built in the Dravidian architectural style and is believed to have been constructed over several centuries, with contributions from various South Indian dynasties, including the Pallavas, Cholas, Pandyas, and Vijayanagara rulers.
The Gopuram (temple tower) and Vimana (dome over the sanctum) are gold-plated, and the temple complex features intricately carved structures.
4. Darshan and Rituals
Darshan (seeing the deity) is the central aspect of a visit to the Tirumala temple. The most popular form of darshan is the Sarva Darshan, where devotees queue to have a glimpse of the deity.
Special darshan options such as VIP Break Darshan and Seva Darshan are available for those who book tickets in advance.
The Suprabhatam (early morning prayer) and the Tiruppavada Seva (a weekly offering) are popular rituals.
