Tis The Time For Sockeye Salmon In SW Alaska To Spawn Till They Die

Large woody debris (LWD) contributes to habitat complexity, and when added to marine derived nutrients - originating from spawning salmon - combine for a very productive ecosystem. The Aniak River is the Kuskokwim's second most productive tributary next to the Holitna River. Although we are not the fabled Bristol Bay where sockeye salmon return by the millions (many millions!), our sockeye numbers seem to be increasing.

Thank you Len. Don't know about the serious patience...maybe more luck than patience. Sometimes things just come together. I was out again yesterday and got some good stuff, but not quite like last year. I did have a beaver swim by several times while videoing last week.
