Just surprised my hubby with one of your RVerTV hats. We just started to watch this episode and I paused it, brought the hat out, gave it to him and said “oh, by the way, Russ came by and said he wanted to give this to you “🤣 Because we live just off Hwy 101 in the Hauser area north of North Bend and know that you’re probably close to cruising through this area. Perfect timing! Yay! Love the channel! Safe travels!

The Mary D. Hume has seen better days. In her final years she towed large log booms from Olympia Washington north to Everett. See came by our beach cabin on Puget Sound on her trips. She had a very unique sounding engine that propelled the boat at a crawl heading north with the tow. My Dad went out in his boat and was welcomed aboard by the Skipper for a ride. My Dad was a competent boat boat builder so after a few rides he had pictures and some measurements so he was able to build a scale model from scratch. It’s stick built like the real thing, it’s a work of art. It’s a shame the Hume has rotted to the point she has. After it returned to Gold beach under its own power, It was to be a static display but something major broke on her when they tried to pull it from the water. So there she stayed. How very sad to see it now, a think a Viking burial would have been more appropriate.

You had this video up several days ago. I got a chuckle out of the part in the video where you are at Cape Blanco and you said the wind was blowing and how Cold it was. I noticed you didn't linger on the story boards at all. I normally stop the video and read the story boards. But when I stopped the video to read the story boards, it was just a blur. I really did get quite the laugh. By the way Cape Blanco means, white coast in Spanish. In fact it was a Spanish ship off this coast that named it White Coast. Also another fun fact Cape Blanco is the western most point along all of the Oregon Coast. 😅 Thanks for a little bit of humor. While I am waiting on my 6 dental Implants to heal.

When the kids were little they called the pointy rocks out in the ocean, "the shark teeth rocks" - (ie; first video beach walk ), . You can see them from miles away and they do kind of look like that. Subsequent trips up the coast we'd look forward to seeing the shark teeth, lol. Notice the dark sand. It's some kind of volcanic sand I think? On a side note; The Curry County Fair in gold beach starts the 24th 27th of july.

Beautiful bench views including the Arch Rock. However, Oregon needs to trim their pathways for the tourists. Your right that boat appears to have a very short lifespan if allowed to continue to decay. Great Ocean pictures, Russ, I too, enjoyed seeing the beach. Thanks for including us with your travel.

Even though I live on the beautiful far Northern California coast, I still prefer the Oregon Coast. California lets too many rich folks buy up their coastline and post "No Trespassing" signs everywhere. Oregon doesn't do that.

Update 8/1/24. Those scenic pullouts on Hwy 101 just North of Brookings filled with RVs staying there for weeks. They are all gone and those pullouts are blocked with cement barriers or piles of crushed rock. Sad but true. They became so messy and a sore sight coming into town. Now, no one gets to use them. But there are plenty of sites along with 100 mile Wild Rivers Coast where you can enjoy a day at a beach.
