You understand (by now) this is not intended as a Tisas baseline offering. The Tisas 1911 Service Model comes closer to that. This is intended to be a close rendition of a WW2 era 1911A1 government issue sidearm. The plastic grips you call cheap is an attempt at being true to period. You can always add wood diamond grips.

I have a Springfield loaded in stainless steel and it runs everything. Being a lefty I bought a loaded blue steel Tisas with dual safety levers and after a good grease job on the rails and barrel it shoots just as smooth as my trusted Springfield at half the price. Truth be told all modern 1911 manufacturers make their guns using CNC machining just as long as the programmers put in the correct specifications so it’s not rocket science but more about who has the biggest name recognition to drive up the price.

Lol at how many people with gun channels don’t know anything about guns. This gun is bang on accurate. the grips are perfect. This is what the people want. The A1 came with brown bakelite (plastic) grips. An A1 never had wood grips unless the person to whom it was issued replaced them along the way. This isn’t a cost savings measure. This is an accurate clone. Dude. Read up the 1911A1 before doing a video on a 1911A1. Stuff drives me nuts. These dudes talking like this is a budget feature, when in reality they just don’t know anything about the pistol they are reviewing.

As already mentioned, the 'plastic' grips and the color of the pistol are true to the mil spec 1911s. I've been around many 1911s and these absolutely get the job done. Back in WW2, manufacturers of, everything, needed to move at high speed and were a little rough around the edges. But, with time and breaking-in, were fantastic. Of course, custom made, high dollar 1911s are going to be more refined than the originals - and they had better be. There's nothing structurally wrong with the Tisas. And you're not alone with the hammer bite. I'm sure you've figured it out by now, but yes, you want to let your support hand do the heavy lifting while maintaining the trigger finger between the first joint and the end of your finger. Took me a while to get used that. I blame the cops and robbers movies and shows with the single-handed shooting. Let's not even start on the 'turning the gun sideways' stuff. Argh! Thanks for the video.

Bakelite grips I believe. That's actually to make the gun more WWII authentic as I think they were on many issue 1911's of the period. I like that wide spur hammer as well. My RIA GI has those sharp edges on the grip safety that begin to chew into the hand too. Thanks for the video.
@BuckeyeBallistics4 жыл бұрын
I like the RIA better, will have to do comparo video. And then there's my Ruger... no comparison, but twice the price so there shouldn't be. Also the Ruger isn't trying to be a original mil style copy, so it has all the modern improvements. Thanks for watching.

Brown plastic was the US government issue standard for WW2 era made 1911A1s. Colt also produced the .38 Colt Commando (government purchased Official Police Models) with brown plastic grips. Just a cost saving measure for producing in mass.

Other people have commented on the grips but I figure I’d add that they’re copies of the 3rd pattern of Bakelite grip. The first pattern had a large diamond around the grip screws like the WWI wood grips, these dropped out of style quickly and were replaced by a second pattern that had fine checkering over the whole surface and turned out to be too weak and cracked in service. This lead to the third pattern with the reinforcement around the grip screws.

The GI plastic ones that were on what I carried when I was in the Navy, but I left the walnut ones that were on the guns when I bought them. I've taken both to the range 2 times and love both. The guns are nice and tight and built well. This is the government model so there's no extras. If what you're looking for is a government model for the price and quality you can't go wrong.

I have two that are made by Tisas. And I'll tell you right now in a blind test... They are quite literally as accurate and is solid and reliable as the springfields that I have and the Colt... The RIA.... They really have made a very tight very accurate and incredibly reliable dependable 1911. I had one that was a 9 mm but yeah I don't do the whole 9 mm 1911 thing. I'm impressed that it shot those Federal Hollow Points! The 1911 pistol was designed to shoot ball ammo. Most Milspec 1911s are very close to the original and I have found them not to work well with hollow points. Of course there are exceptions to that rule, and this gun runs them well.
@BuckeyeBallistics3 жыл бұрын
Yeah kinda crazy that the cheapest 1911 you can buy will shoot anything while more expensive ones won't.
@williamthehuntsman3 жыл бұрын
I'm surprised too. But I'm not complaining one bit. This means that this 1911 is a lot more versatile in its role in the civilian market than the more expensive ones. A good sidearm for hunting, target shooting, competition (all be it with a little modification), AND self defense. All it takes is a quick swap of the ammo type, and you can easily use this handgun for most situations. Now to be clear: I'm not hating on more expensive 1911s. But if my SDS 1911A1 can handle steel case ammo, regular ball, +P, AND Hollow Points better than my $1,500 Sig 1911, I'm gonna start using the SDS more.

In my experience (check out the 1911 playlist on the channel), I have never noticed any of the grip safeties being stiff and needing a firm grip to depress them, but rather, quite the opposite- so I would say it's likely normal. @BuckeyeBallistics4 жыл бұрын
@@parkerrollins774 Well the only 1911's you can get for $400 and under that I'm aware of are this Tisas and the ATI. If you're lucky, you might be able to find a Rock Island for $400 on sale, which I would immensely recommend as I loved the one I had and it ran flawless. Aside from 1911's? BEST? Since you are asking best, which to me means highest quality and reliability for the price, I would have to say the Girsan Regard, which we have a video of. Reason being, because it's quite literally a Beretta 92/M9 with a different name slapped on the side. Which, the Beretta used to run close to $700 a few years back, but I have seen them in the 500's lately for some reason. Anyway I guess Girsan was actually contracted by Beretta some time ago to make the 92/M9 *for* Beretta. So Girsan was making the actual Berettas for Beretta. Then somewhere along the line, they made a deal with Beretta to make and sell a "clone" of their gun, which is the Regard. But it's not really a clone, it's pretty much the real deal for under $400 with a different name on it. I was blown away shooting the thing how smooth and tight and accurate it was. I was like damn, if this thing is this good, I wonder how good the Beretta is. Then I learned there wasn't a difference and it made a lot more sense lol.

@therealhawkeyeii78883 жыл бұрын
The grips aren't plastic so as to be cheap. They are plastic so as to conform to the standard of USGI issue. In other words, they were issued by the US Army with plastic grips, and so naturally the reproduction will have plastic grips, too.

I like how guys say cheap all 1911 shoot the same iv shot 400 1911 and 3000 they shoot and made to same tolerance yes some are made with better metal but they are all made the same just depends if you want sti colt kimber exc exc on the side of the gun and I know I’m gonna get laughed at for this but at the end you take the guns apart and check the parts they are all made the same some are just made with cheaper metal
@BuckeyeBallistics3 жыл бұрын
You're not a gunsmith or an expert marksman then lol. If you think the only difference is metal quality, you are way off. And if you can't shoot tighter groups with a $3000 1911 than you can with a $400 1911, then it's because of your abilities, not the gun. One can't shoot 1.25" groups at 25 yards with a $400 1911 like you can with a $3000 1911...

@@BuckeyeBallistics congratulations! Good to know you live in an alternate reality, i have no interest in being a public figure however and also have nothing to prove (unlike some) , and that’s my friend shooting, into a target at 100 yards actually but nevermind you! You can try to justify all your fancy pants stuff and cry yourself to sleep while you’re at it, cuz yes, it’s true, $3000 dollars doesn’t buy you mechanical accuracy, a properly bushed and built pistol does, the rest is all glitter on a dung heap…(I also have spent more than necessary to shoot a firearm, so don’t feel alone there)

Yeah like I said in the video, never had this problem before. I think it's because the trigger is so narrow and rounded on this gun. My Ruger 1911 for example is very wide and flat by comparison.
