I think you are riding the slide down a bit when chambering a round. Pull it back and sling shot it forward aggressively and it'll load just fine. If you use plastic follower magazines or magazines with skirted followers like what came with it, you won't damage the aluminum ramp. In my experience it's the followers that damage the feed ramp not so much the ammo. Thanks for reviewing the Aviator and hope you do a follow up session. God Bless!

I am retired 30 year US Army and the 1911a1 was my side arm for 25 of those years years. I own quite a few and recently purchased a Tisas Night Stalker in 10mm. What good buy that was, The Aviator in .45 is my next buy. I do not like front serrations on a 1911 slide. I do like my off hand near the muzzle while charging the weapon. I normally use the slide release when putting in a fresh magazine. I use a 1911 as my carry weapon and always carry it in condition one (Cocker, locked, and one in the pipe). You made an excellent case that magazines DO matter!

I'd like to see what it will do just using the slide release when you are loading it. Doesn't matter much, because I've never seen one that about 100 rounds down range didn't cure that problem.

A good quality aluminum frame will last many thousands of rounds without worry so long as it is designed properly and made out of the correct alloy. 7.75 aluminum is actually stronger and more resistant to wear than some steels. The 2 best solutions (which have been implimented by several manufacturers) 1 Use a ramped barrel which eliminates a round hitting a feed ramp made of aluminum. 2 Install a steel feed ramp prior to the barrel and run a normal 1911 barrel. The actual wear on the rails will take many, many thousands of rounds to show any appreciable wear difference between steel and aluminum so long as a decent grade aluminum is used. Think of all the Sig duty pistols in the P series such as the P220, P226, P228, P229 that have survived 10's of thousands of rounds as duty, police and competitive shooting pistols and all of them have an aluminum frame as standard.

M16s had aluminum frames in 6000 series aluminum, later upgraded to 7075 aluminum. Very tough stuff. Most modern aluminum frames are 7075.

It would be interesting to see how the aluminum feed ramp would hold up with a long term steady diet of fluted ammo.

Good informational video. It ran pretty decent for having the aluminum curse on it. That front bead site is the same as the M.A.C. (Military Armament Corp) 45acp. The rear site is the same larger rear site as the ‘Desperado’ line Tisas has in chrome plated steel. ….. The rear site on standard government models are smaller. The ‘Desperado’ (4.25in) and the ‘Regulator’ (5in) comes with 2 barrels, one in 9mm and a barrel in 38super.

The language Tisas uses to describe the guns ramp seems to me the frame is ramped. All 1911s frames are ramped, otherwise it wouldn't cycle. My friend bought one because he thought it was ramped. I showed him mine, which is the exact model he has, and the barrel is not ramped. I've shot aluminum framed Colt Commanders .45s for about 40 years and not a crack in the frame. I'd probably worry about an aluminum framed gun with a ramped barrel installed. In order to install a ramped barrel lots of metal needs to be removed. I doubt that would be a good idea, unless someone fancies a weakened frame. So I believe theirs a language barrier with Tisas description. I've seen lots of them and not one barrel was ramped.

You need the longer plastic follower with the aluminum frames. The round feeds higher and doesnt hit the frame as much. Good review. Some autoloaders need a bit of break in. 200 rounds should do it.

That frame will take way more rounds than 90% of the owners will ever shoot through it. It makes it an ideal carry gun. Fully loaded it will weigh what an all steel Goverment model weighs empty. Like all ready mentioned, your loading technique seems to be the likely cause of the feed issues.

I am going to guess you don't own any other .45acp 1911s. As most all 1911s in 45acp have the ramp on the frame as JMB designed it. The ramped barrel is a staple of the 9mm 1911....
@2Afreedomrange11 ай бұрын
You would be guessing wrong I have several 1911 45acp.but I do agree with the rest of your comment. The point I was trying to make is I wouldn’t recommend any aluminum frame with the ramp.because aluminum is not a metal you would use in a high impact friction area.it can however stand some friction.but it will not last like a steel frame. I do really appreciate your comment though friend.
