Back in the late 70s, my elder relative mentioned the importance of a 9mm Colt Commander as a carry gun. No one reacted because everyone in the room wanted a Colt Commander in 45 ACP. During those days, the govt banned the ownership of 45's for civilians but restored the privilege during the 80s. It took almost 5 decades for the 9mm Commander type of pistol to be popular here. Sadly, my relative was no longer around to see this. By the way, the Tisas looks as if it was customized by a gunsmith. It is well designed. Nice video GB!

@@GBGuns I got a surplus Beretta 81 October 2019 I think it was. before Biden & c19 .they must have had a bunch of the. I was saving up for one ,watching the reviews, good & bad,add up at a pace that was making me nervous.under $200 I think.anyhow, when I got the $ together & started the order, the price went up twice within a day &1/2. $10 + another $10 .didn’t go with hand select option.$ was tight right then.think it wound up at $229+ tac/transfer.got one of what must have been the last of them.got a really good one..then they were gone.LOVE that 32. Had recently replaced grips or just rarely shot. Sprung for the black & red wood looking LOK thin checkered grips. Like that modern/Clasic look on the older guns I have. Point is,spotted a Tisas equivalent of that gun in a little fishing /hunting shop on the way to the coast next door to the ABC store we stop by to get a bottle most times we take that trip. The finish was different & it may have been a 380 .can’t remember. Liked the old Beretta better but the Tisas was nice..high 300-$400ish. Was just looking.getting a 84 when I get a chance. Recently got a hankering for a 1911. Thinking about a Garrison GI 45 but like this. Really like the butt & mag release groove on that grip. & the other stuff you like about it. NOT GOINGTO HAVE A “idiot scratch “on what ever I get. Was wondering…how do you decide what guns you get to review. Really like your taste in guns. LMK pls. Curious.. thanks Burke Wills (My daughter got ahold of my phone or somehow changed my ID to her name..?. Thx again. GP is most likely going to come before a 1911 bantam or high Value 45 GI but It depends on what I get ahold of 1st. Take care & hey to your better 1/2.

When I worked at Ruger in Prescott, AZ (in the range), we used Checkmate mags as a replacement for Mec-Gar because some people complained that using Mec-Gar prevented Ruger from claiming that the gun was "Made in the USA." All I can say is that Mec-Gar was 100% reliable. After the dismal experience we had with Checkmate, we went back to Mec-Gar. YMMV.

Man I picked one up and in my local gunshop when they were released and I regret not buying it. As a 1911 enthusiast this thing had all the features of a gun 2x the pice or more. Slide to frame fit was fantastic, trigger was excellent especially for carry, even got to check the tension of the extractor and it was good. At the time it had a sticker of $799. For that price, this will always be the one that got away.😥

It looks like Tisas discontinued this model unfortunately. I just picked up a 9mm carry version that Tisas calls the Tisas 1911 Stingray Carry Pistol on their website. The online dealer I bought it from didn't label it Stingray though. Good looking gun and I took it to the range and it seemed to shoot accurately and I had no failures in the 150 rounds I have through it so far. The only thing that kind of bugs me is there is a bit of a rattle in the slide/frame fit when you jiggle the gun. Seems kind of similar to what you got around the 6:45 mark of the video. I'm new to 1911's so I'm not sure if it is anything to be concerned with. Just none of my other semi auto pistols have that issue. Cool thing is the Stingray is a lot less expensive. I got mine for well under $500.

This video shows a Para/Clark ramped barrel. I have seen one other disassembled review (not on youtube) that showed a standard (not ramped) barrel. The product description on SDS (Tisas) website doesn't call out a ramped barrel. The other review was older (Jul 2021) so I am wondering if they have started including the ramped barrel or what the deal is? Anyone have any idea? It would be a bummer if I ordered one and it didn't come with a ramped barrel. update: After more research, I think the 9mm has the ramped barrel, maybe to try and help some of the feeding issues with 9mm 1911? I still can't find anything specifically stating there is a ramped barrel. that is odd to me.
