I think you missed to state a very important item in regard to the accuracy: this model is c.o.s.c. chronometer certified. It adds a lot of value in mho. Regards, José, (Spain).

+josepirl, You are absolutely correct. I intentionally omitted accuracy as my particular watch was way off spec. I'm not sure if it needs to be tuned, but I wanted to avoid the topic. If it were up to spec I would rate the movement 9 out of 10, but if this is a recurring problem (no evidence it is) I would have to downgrade the movement. Thanks for watch-ing, josh

Hi Josh, I watched your review because a Tissot Powermatic 80 Chronometer has come up on an auction site I frequent. I'm a bit of a novice with watches and have had several Seiko watches over the years (I'm 62). I Like the look of this watch, and we have 2 service centres within 30k's in case anything goes wrong. Thanks for the video and giving your opinion on the watch. I must say though, ( and no offence intended ) Watching your video was like watching Dr Sheldon Cooper (The Big Bang Theory) doing a video on Flags. Try to relax a bit and smile, I hope you're still doing watch reviews. Merry Christmas to you and your subscribers, Cheers from Perth Australia. :)

great review! the tradeoff is interesting and not a deal breaker..in fact being able to hear the rotor is a plus for me--i would probably get the ladies version of this or one of its brethren that gets down to below 40mm...36mm would be my desire...

Mine is running 2 seconds slow after a week. Amazing! My srpb11 turtle blue lagoon runs at 8-10 sec slow. Both r good but for a chronometre grade watch at $630 there is NO comparison! Hell breitling uses this same movt in a 10,000 watch! I think that this is an amazing deal even though it doesn't come with a certificate showing it's specs and certification number (which it should have)! I do wish it were 43mm over the 41mm and I do wish it had a more elaborate dial.

@johansallman1259 7 жыл бұрын
Eric Kksheng not all of the powermatic 80's are chronometers. The movement is used in two grades by Tissot, regular pm80 and pm80 cosc, the last being chronometer classified. All models with cosc movement have the chronometer marking on the dial.

You left off the one drawback that was a deal breaker for me. I came VERY close to purchasing this watch until I found out that to calibrate it, unlike the traditional 2824-2 movement, it is calibrated via lazers! You pretty much have to send it back to the factory!! I did want to risk getting one that was off by sizeable amount and have to go through that. Especially once it is out of warranty.

You missed the point buddy, accuracy. Before you give a presentation you need to get the right information first. Let me explain this to you again. Accuracy, COSC certified, very important along with the power reserve at such low price. You are welcome.

I hate when someone reviews watches and say "they are WR to 50 meters" ... someone who doesnt know ISO 2281 standard may think he can fucking dive with this watch .... 50m = 5atm pressure = you can swim with them .

Which one would you recommend ,the Powermatic 80 version of Le Locle or the Automatic version with the ETA 2824-2 ?
@duncanidaho7494
@duncanidaho7494 7 жыл бұрын
Introduced in 2013, the Powermatic 80 is a relatively new mouvement. It's basically an updated version of the ETA 2824-2 mouvement. It doesn't have a regulator and it operates at a lower frequency (it ticks slower), providing 80hrs of power. I'd go for ETA 2824-2 for bullet proof reliability and Powermatic 80 for its huge reserve. In the end, it is your decision :) Cheers

so it advertised has a eta 28-24 but it only has a frequency of say 21500, where a Eta 2824 has a frequency of 28860. Why not just buy a Seiko movement? How do you adjust the movement? If you don’t want a watch like this....it might be hard to avoid, as the Swatch company, has brought out watch companies like Hamilton, Tissot...and others that and now they are using movements like this. So it like you not getting an ETA 2824. It’s like a “Dumbed-down” ETA 2824, or a “Super” - Seiko movement, or a Super Swatch watch.

@ericharstrom9339

Why are you referring it as the powermatic 80? The model name is luxury. Powermatic 80 or eta C07.111 is the movement they use in all the watches with 80 hour power reserve.

Tissot is more and more using powermatic 80 movement on their automatic watches. There is some rumors state that the powermatic 80 movement using silicon parts (plastic) which makes the movement less durable and reliable. Besides, the movement can't be regulated and non-serviceable (meaning that the movement is a disposable movement). Is those rumors true?
@robertwilliams2850
@robertwilliams2850 7 жыл бұрын
Silicon is not the plastic. That is silicone. Silicon balance springs are used in Omega, Rolex, and a number of high end watches. Tissot is breaking new ground putting it in a watch at this price point.
