In this video 👀 we review this watch from the Swatch group. The Tissot 1853 T Classic Luxury Powermatic 80 is a mechanical watch, ➕ Swiss and quality at a reasonable price.
In addition, we analyze the Powermatic 80 movement, a caliber as controversial as it is functional, with no less than eighty hours of power reserve.

If Tissot haven't signed you up yet as a brand ambassador they should do so immediately. I've been looking for a dressy watch in black on steel bracelet for a while and this review has sealed the deal for me. At €280 it really is a no-brainer. I can't wait for it to arrive.

I bought the same model two weeks ago after watching this excellent review. I was searching for a new watch and I was bored with seeing stainless steel integrated bracelets everywhere. This Tissot looks great with its unique design and it is exactly what I want as a dress or casual watch. Your review helped me to buy this beautiful watch. Thanks.

Generally speaking, polymer has come a long way in the past 40+ years. I don't doubt the durability of the Powermatic 80 running in my own Tissot. I understand the reticence, but I think in this case it is unwarranted.

Powermatic is not very reliable, the spring can quickly become out of tune. It does not break, but then it has to be regulated again. When the reserve is low, the watch tends to speed up. But this movement works well with a silicon spring. Otherwise, even the 4R from Seiko is more reliable.

I bought this watch a number of years ago and it worked great until just recently when it started to fall behind keeping time by about five minutes. I took it to my jeweler and they sent it in to be cleaned in the hopes that it will solve the problem. What's the warranty through Tissot on this watch? Should I have sent it to them?
@trappingthetime
@trappingthetime Жыл бұрын
I dont know what to tell you my friend. I think that the Swatch group is really hermetic on the manteinance service. You are supossed to send it to them... but yoy know... that is something ungair for the tissot customers.
@matthewweaver1123
@matthewweaver1123 Жыл бұрын
I'm curious what the outcome was 2 months later. Did the 3rd party work get the watch back in working order? I'm pretty sure Tissot's warranty is only 2 years, so since you bought it "a number of years ago" it was probably out of warranty anyway. I'm curious how well 3rd party is able to regulate these free sprung balance movements.
@dnovelle1

@@matthewweaver1123 I'm still trying to find someone who will clean the watch at a decent price. I've received two estimates at $300+ each and it's almost as much as I paid for the watch. I might as well buy a new watch. I wonder if I just sent it to Tissot what they would do???

The movement misadjusts itself. In my opinion, it is not reliable. Got a beaterror of 1.4 and +30 seconds after three weeks. I looked at how this is regulated and since then I am no longer surprised that it can became misadjusted in this way.

To me a long power reserve is useless. It’s either going to be your only watch so you would wear it every day so the power reserve would not matter or you have multiple watches and you’re rotating them out and it’s going to run out anyway. I would much rather have a higher beat rate. Also, it is concerning that the part of the watch that is going to have the most friction is made out of plastic. I definitely would not call this an evolution. In fact, some people could argue it’s a step backwards. This is not to say I don’t love Tissot watches or the swatch group. It’s just a shame to me that they ruined a perfectly fine movement. This was a really great video, though. I loved the format in which you used to review the watch.

The watch: an out of trend dressy design from 10years ago. Size is too big in all of its dimensions. Cheap because nobody wants it. The movement: Plastic escapement in the 23jewels powermatic versions like the one in the video. By now, 2023 - likely to have been laying unsold and travelling between warehouses for more than 5-10years. In desperate need of a service. Please call this watches what they are: NOS- out of fashion -vintage gigantic "all dial" 41mm
